Where to go for power

  1.6 16v clio priv

Does anyone know of any good performance garages in the midlands. I live in south derbyshire and all I can find near me are standard garages that wont touch sports stuff. Theres a halfords and a motorworld around but all their good for is induction kits and the like. Theres got to be something better around.

Have found a good exhaust place nearby but thats it.

Renault? Few quid, yours traded in and a Renault Sport :) Doubt youll get much extra from the 1.6 16v engine.

BluePete, At what cost tho? Staying n/a, having usable road manners and normal engine service life?

I would say talk to mailto:andy@gdi">andy@gdi or benR. My guess would be around 10k to include uprated cams, throttle bodies and lots of other expsensive goodies

As Pete said, they use the K4M block in thre Super 1600, and they run 220bhp.

Not the kind of thing your want to trundle down to the Spar in though.

Id stick with a remap, decat, some mild breathing work and maybe a set of cams.

BenR knows his stuff. worth a pm.

No wonder I never knew about it thats so far out of swad I wouldnt even call it swad its only 9 mins away from my house though Cheers guys Ill give him a try.

All Im gonna do to my clio for now is a bit of breathing work (powerflow doing the exhause though)

And a remap then well see.

Styling wise Im adding a spoiler. (looks like the cliosport spoiler but bigger), some subtly bumpers, skirts and bumper and some alloys. Might tint the windows too cause I wanna get security film and I may as well get the tinted stuff while Im at it. Ill go take a look tomorrow.

IMO youll regret wasting money tuning that car. Save it and get the scooby earlier.

Your car your choice but i know i have regretted tuning low spec cars with no real gains.

I agree with mike 172 id rather have a evo than a scooby, but you aint gonna insure a evo at 21,my mates 30 and he was getting quoted a grand on one,i think you would be looking at 2.5-3k to insure a scooby

I would get a scooby now IF i could. Saw one when I was looking at buying the current clio at motorpoint for 13995 on the road. Was obsidian black. I got a semi just looking at it (maybe I like cars too much)

Rang norwich for a quote, no go got to be 25. They gave me number of specialist to ring. No go either got to be 21. They gave me number of specialist broker to ring.

Out of the 20 insurance companies on their books 1 gave a quote £14673.

When Im 21 it drops to 1.5k which Ill live with.

Oh and i thought about an evo. I do like them but they are about 20k more and to be honest I like the impreza wrx sti more. Only a little more but i do like it more.

Im not really expecting huge gains, but I also want the upgrades for the style (mainly the exhaust). And just because you cant feel the gains dosent mean there isnt any. You cant really feel the difference in power much in my 1.6 and my gfs mums 1.2 but theres a lot when you time it or race them.

I am going to limit the amount I spend though. Not decided how much too though. Ill start small anyway.
