Which car?

Some of you will remember, some of you wont. I used to be on here a lot untill about a year ago when I part exchanged my beloved clio for a shitty diesel punto :dapprove:

Anyway, I am now totally fed up with the punto and so I am looking at changing my car again. I need some advice though. I can potentially spend upto £10k though dont necesarrily want to spend that much, especially as the insurance goes up with the cost of the car! The 3 cars I have in mind are:

Pegout 106 GTi - Its cheap, its faster than my old clio, its cheap to insure, not sure on moding potential and what performance per pound is like?

Clio 172/182 - I drove a 182 and I loved it, its middle in the terms of price, insurance is only a little more than the 106 GTi, and I know what modding these is like having spent so long here.

Clio V6 - Its a Vee, need i say more? Only thing I have against these at the moment is the insurance (havent got a decent quote... yet), and I dont know what kind of fuel consumption is possible? I know I wont get great out of any of them, but I imagine this will be the worst of the lot by a long shot! Modding, probably wouldnt tbh.

Thought, opinions, advice all really appreciated!

the 106 gti's are good for what they are, but in my honest opinion they have very little or no road presence plus they always seem to be driven by little boys with caps on with huge exhausts (there are always exceptions thow) but like you said...there cheap and cheerful

the 1*2 are good all-rounders, return good consumption have some road presence and alot of kit as standard. nice and nippy as well they rele punch above their weight seeing off more expensive hot hatches etc. i rele like my 182. most of all there incredible to drive. such a laugh. my clio is doing around 30mpg and i drive it quite hard

the v6's (veeeeeeeee's) are amazing cars although my mates one has had its coil packs fail all to often. fuel economy he is avergaing low 20's at the mo. huge and i mean huge road presence. and the handling is sublime.

all these cars will fall apart but thats all part of the fun of owning a french car the 106 will be the worst though in my opinion.

so i think the 1*2 will be your best bet, but if you can stretch to it (afford the running costs) the v6's are always at the top of the pecking order. hope that helps
