Which F1 MPG

  R27 LY
Hi guys not been on here in ages I am finally going to get a Clio F1 or a Megane F1 in the coming months the problem I've got is what is the real world mpg for both of these as this will be my run about car doing about 8k a year on it. Used to have a Clio 1.5dci which I loved it handled so good so kind of swaying towards the clio but kind of want some more power. If anyone owns either of them could you tell me how you get on with them?

well, yes, but it's more regularly referred to as the R27, on CS anyway,

I know if I had a choice, I'd probably go for the Clio, I'm not sure but I think the Megane R26 was more of a "look at these lovely stickers" job... much likea Gordini in fact.

The R27 had the Recaros, the first showacasing of the Cup Pack suspension (IIRC?) and it kept the shorter gear ratios (IIRC?).

I can only speak for half of the arguement but the megane will do circa 25-28mpg round town and 35mpg is easily achievable on long journeys sticking to the speed limit.

I average 28 ish in mine. On a run about 34/35 at 70. But the computer is wrong by about 3-4 mpg from what ive worked out. Its not the best, but its not the worst. If your careful its ok but the loud pedal makes it move at a rapid pace lol. Best ive had is 412 miles from one tank, but i didnt boot it once which was very difficult.
Meg is about the same. In todays fuel prices it costs me £70 to fill up once it hits the red. So dont buy it if you cant afford to run it because it can get expensive.

Go on clio197.net mate, about 6482998264829 mpg threads from owners on there.

R26 is best of the RS Megane bunch as it has an LSD, it's not just a sticker job. There's a Megane F1 (blue or black) and it doesn't have an LSD but it does have cup goodness but the first Megane to gain cup chassis was the Trophy, there's a cracking Megane Trophy for sale on here just now FYI

Was going to say R26 and megane f1 are different cars, I think.

Never heard of the Clio R27 being called a F1 either

The Megane R26 is a much better car than the Clio R27. The R27 isn't any quicker than a 172 or 182.

Recaros in the R26 won't wear out on the bolsters, the LSD is brilliant in corners, and a £300 remap gives gains that cost thousands to get from a Clio.

Mine has the RS Tuning Stage 2 remap and I'm averaging between 30 and 32mpg on my commute to work.

Disagree tim

They both have there positives and if your only doing 8k a year then id go for the R27, yes the megane can be boosted in power very easily but in all honestly thats not the be all and end all.

For that sunday B road blast id take the clio anyday of the week over the meggy its just more exciting and alot more chuckable!

i didnt take me very long to work out that altho the meganes great at what it does its one of the dullest cars ive driven and the gear change is one of the poorest ive ever used! no doubt as a daily to and from work etc it would be better than the clio but only doing 8k a year im not sure youd get the benefits of the better MPG

Really need to drive both and decide. As you can see, opinions differ greatly!
I'd take the meg every time of the 2. But my money, wouldn't go on either.
