whisteling noise and smell of screenwash/maby air con ?

hi guys and girls it may just be me but just recently iv noticed a whisteling noise that seems to be getting worse its normaly in 1st and 2nd but in higher gears i cant hear it. also when the heaters/aircon are on i cam smell something like screanwash allthough im nt sure wether its screenwash or maby air con?

please help as im woried about this

Well the screen wash smell will be your screen wash. You can smell the screen wash inside the car.

The whistling will be either a gap in the windscreen wipers, like mine or the windscreen seal.

when i say wisteling i mean coming from the engine maby a belt or something like that

Well that's more than likey a pulley. Have the belts been changed recently?

acording to the service history its had a new cambelt at 32000 miles i think and its now on 35000

Next question is, was that just a cambelt, or the cambelt kit?

reading my history its had a new timing belt, auxillary belt, head plug x2 and crank bolt

ok now the noise is getting lowder and i can smell a burning smell it seems to be coming fron around the altenator area so could this be the aircon. verry woried now as dont want to drive the car incase i cause more damage

the smell in the cabin of the car stops if the heaters/aircon are off

Power steering pump? I had a strong burning smell when mine leaked a couple of months ago, i think the fluid was getting on to the aux belt causing noise

thanks il check that but im not sure what powerstering fluid smells like is it a similar smell to neat screenwash? hopefully there will be somethink visible i can see.
