Wii shortage!!!!

Nooooo!!!! just got this from Play.com

Dear Customer,

Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.

All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.

LOL, all as bad as each other these console manufacturers, i didn't think this launch wpuld be any less of a farce than any of the others tbh, shortage creates a massive buzz and makes the news, everyone will be talking about it and desperate to get one as they are rare, they all do it.

Best thing is to get the morning off and head out to the shops, my bosses partner did this on 360 launch day and managed to get 3, he sold 2 to his mates with a £20 mark-up.

Not easy in London but if you live in the sticks like me apparently it's not hard to find such things.

Cartman freezes himself because he can't wait the 3 weeks for it to come out.

tbh i would never buy a console at launch from someone like play.com, argos, woolworths etc.

when i got my 360 at launch last year i preordered through game as i knew thye would have stocl and only took preorders fro as many consoles as they were alocated, play.com etc just keep taking preorders to get the business nevermind if you dont get it on launch, i know people who preordered thier 360's from play.com last year, launch date for those that dont know was the 2nd of dec, some people still hadn't got thier 360's in feb!!!

always better preordering with a proper uk game retailer.

on another note, my girlfriend preordered her eos 400d through play.com 2 weeks after launch she still had no word and cancelled her order, ordered through another online shop but one that was uk based and only dealt with photography and she recieved it 2 days later

seriously mate get yourself down game or something tomorrow and see if you can pre-order instore. I had this meither with my 360 from play when they first came out, they're absolutely crap for pre-orders. You'll never see that before xmas mate. Shops are definately the best place!!

i only order stuff from play.com as it is cheap and they have replaced items that never turned up with no quibbles. i can't fault them tbh.

no, can't say i can fault their service too except that you have to wait ages if something doesn't arrive to have it replaced but I am just impatient and can't wait more than a couple of days, if I decide i want something i want it next day and i can always seem to find somewhere just as cheap to buy what i want that will offer me that. I have never had any problems with their level of service though as you say.

Yes he was being kind to his mates, £40 isn't bad for a morning trip to the shop, he got a free game out of it!

I ordered mine from hmv - on the basis they have pretty much more clout than play.com. Ordered mine late September, I wonder if mine'll turn up??
