Window Tinting Laws

Hi guys and girls, a bit of help if i may.

Unfortunately where i live, the police have nothing better to do than pull young drivers over on a weekly basis for no reason other than the fact you are driving at night with someone else in the car. The normal excuse is "A renault was stolen in the area and we are just checkin its not this one" but where i live the only car crime there is, is old dears doing 33 in a 30 zone.

Because of this sillyness you have to very careful as non road legal car mods get noticed very quickly.

Im looking to get my Windows done and i keep hearing different things. R-Tec are saying you can have light smoke tints on front doors, but 2 of my mates work for peugeot and citreon and they reckon its illegal to have any window tints on the front at all.

I wanna keep my car road legal so does anyone know the current accurate law or could give me a source other than the local cop shop as i know what they will say even if its not the truth.

the front windows must let 70% of light through so this pretty much rules out any tint on the fronts especially if they are tinted fron the factory, you can do wht you from the b pillar backwards, its not worth the hassle taking the risk, ive gotta pay nearly £120 to get my taken off.

Ive got 80% tints on the front and i drive past plenty of coppers who take no notice !! My tints dont affect the way i can see out !! They only affect people being able to see in !! That new legislation is a kin joke !!

wanted super ts but it would have had to wait 6 weeks

the only problem with multispokes is that they are a pain in the arse to clean

Its nothing to do with a supposed accident with a motorcyclist, which it seems the government are holding up as their excuse to ban front window tints. Since when did ONE accident become the justification for a complete amendment of the law? Thats b****cks.

Its because, as ever more speeding cases are falling through because of lack of information on driver identity, it is now becoming crucial that accurate photographs of drivers rather than their vehicles are taken, so that the CPS can successfully prosecute. Of course you wont find that on any government website though.

Ive seen it too many times, young lads in an old Escort or something getting done for their tints, their number plates, their LED washer jets etc, while some rich b*****d or his wife drive around in their blacked-out BMW X5 or MPV with an illegally spaced plate and would never once be pulled.

new laws are as rossyt said.70% of the light must come through,so tints can only block 30% of the light out.a lot of cars comes with window tints not far off this i would imagine.windscreen cant be tinted full stop.personally i think its b****cks because i wanted to tint my windows and now i cant. i dont think it affects visibility out to much within reason of course.
