wiring neons help please

got some small neon beamers that i was gonna put underneath the seat pointing into the footwells to illuminate them blue, they are 12v and currently on a cigarette plug, i wann a wire them permanently in whats the best way (where to etc). its in a mark 1 phase 2.rt.

Put a switch in the live wire. Then put the live wire to your battery +ve and the other one to the -ve side of the battery.

I done this in my old car but wired them to the interior light, so when the doors opened they come on. Looked good.

u mean u want them on permanently? or wired up discritily (spelling), i.e. not sticking out of the lighter?

yeah discrtily, probably only on when the lights are on.

Well find a wire thats live when the lights you want ona re on, ie in my boot, i snipped the wire to the boot light and used that.

Interior lights - splice into the wire to the little l9ght and run wires from that.

Headlights - run wires from a cable that is live only when the headlights are on, youll have to find one.

Although if doing that i suggest you put a hard on/off switch in, seeing as neons are illegial on teh road

probs best to wire it to the wire on the cig lighter, tke the lighter out and wire it to that. wire the other wire to the headlight fuse in the passenger fusebox.

use the ciggy wires m8, thats what i did b4 in me old car,

then just drilled a hole 4 a lil switch that i could flick when i wanted the neons on, much better, that way u can easily turn em on and off wheneva u like,

easy enough 2 do aslong as u can get 2 the wires behind cig lighter, got sum neons kicking about in the garage sumwhere, mite wire them up sumtime and just av a blue glow coming from the footwell,

although, hmmmmm my old neons r blue and my dash lights r red, so red would look better really, crap!!!

just wire them to your hed lights like those neon jet washers thats wot i did!

then when u put ya headlights on they will come on lighting up the footwells

I would take a switched supply from say the dashboard illumination and use it to relay a supply direct from the battery. Also fit a switch in line with the illumination wire so you can turn the neons off when you have your lights on and you see the Police.

If it were me, Id chuck the whole lot in the bin. But I have to admit that I did have a cold cathode as a glove box light...

Can you use a voltage tester/multimeter etc?? if not, I would seriously think twice about doing ANY of your own electrics.....

i used my amp 2 power mine....They came on when the amp comes on..No messing with the cars electrics 4 me.

You could easly put a swich in as well
