Worth Modding This??

  330Ci (Fail)Sport
Hi boys and girls...

I've had my 1.4 RT for a year now and have done nothing to it accept change my headunit and fit my sub.

I've been thinking about lowering it 35/40mm (so just need springs and not whole kit) with 15s. But this would work out around £700 which is way too much atm.

So been thinking of maybe cheap power gains?? Is there anything that's not too costly but will improve its go?

It sitting on my AMAZING 13" steelies, WOO! *sigh* Is there a way to fit 15s with a tyre size that wont make it look like a 4x4??

All advice and help welcome.

Can't really be dealing with the hassle of selling up and making sure the new car is in good order. Mine's low mileage, spent money on big service a yr ago and timing belt, and I know its all working good order.

Guessing Weight loss is the way...

Guessin not much to do on a budget that'll make noticeable gains?

Anyone?

induction kit with cold air feed or uprated panel filter possibly - maybe get 1 or 2 bhp etra plus a really nice noise when you boot it.

Dont induction kits make smaller engines less powerful?

How about a panel filter and a cold air feed for some added oomph?

Hmmmm....maybe buying a new car is the only way to make a decent gain.......????

probably - but why not keep th car build up soem savings and some NCB then get a 182 or something?

oh and yes panel filter would be better than induction kit

^^ agreed, but why do you think it would cost you 700 to lower it an put 15s on you could do it for half that, admitidly mines older but i lowered it with an actual kit and got new wheels for bout 370

Well 15s and tyres would cost me around £300, say £100 for springs....I'm not very able mechanically with cars so would need springs fitted....people want £100+ for this and its £90 per mod for insurance.

Saving up for faster car is what I have been trying to do...but spent a tad more at uni than i was hoping (no regrets lol) so having to start saving again. Its just so frustrating not to have decent acceleration, i think my driving is up to the beat - have kept up with faster cars with crap drivers, but i want some va-va-voom!

i got 15" dynamique wheels for £150 and lowering springs for £200. Then got them done along with a service at the local garage. Just try and do subtle mods and look on ebay/the classifieds to see if you can get some bargains. good luck :)

I think modding a 5-door car is a big NO NO!! 3 door hatch is wheel its at. I don't think i have ever seen a nice 5-door modded car. They just look wrong. My opinion of course ;)

Subtle mods is all im after Kenny.

I did want a 3 door, but this was jus too good an offer to give up at the time. I wouldn't do anthing major, only alloys and lowering cosmetically, surely not much diff btwn that and a 3 door lowered with alloys?

Biggest dilema is that I go to uni in london, so barely use my car during term time, but when i take it in london I want it to look good cos everyone knows how much I love cars and a lot of ppl got mercs n BMs (rich daddies!) but when I do drive it I want it to give me that buzz when you know it feels fast...if that makes any sense lol? Prefer not to get my buzz from having to control the sliding!

IMO, a modded 5 door car looks more cheap, makes you look like a wanabee racer.

keep it standard, when you qualify, get a nice car.

That was the original plan when I bought....don't think I can wait another 2/3yrs tho...save up some my loan towards new car for next summer maybe....hmmmm....maybe 1.6 Clio...
