wouldnt start

yesterday i got my car back from renault after they alledgedly changed an engine mount which was kncocking and sorted a misfiring problem out....both of these probems i still have!!got the car home from garage on my way to work last night and i stopped for petrol,filled up got back in car and engine wuld not start,kept turnng over...ended up getting the AA out,they said the fuelk pump was knackered..he gave the petrol tank a few knocks and it started...went to work,finished work and same problem would not start,so i did the same and it started..so i take it the fuel pump is almost dead now aswell...would a dying fuel pump cause low pressure to rail and cause the car to run crap, perform crap,smoke a lot and eat fuel????

Sounds like the fuel pump is away then.
The fuel pump not feeding petrol so would choke your engine, as it would be running on "fresh air" really.
Would cause smoke from the exhaust as the oil is being burnt off.
Performance would be effected quite badly as no fuel = no go.

If Renault were supposed to have done your engine mount & sorted your mis fire, i'd go back there & ask what they did actually do tbh.

yes im going back first thing in morning....i dont think they have actually done anything at all to it.
