WTF happened there

  Nissan Jewk

Sitting in my house, my car is sitting on the driveway and the alarm went off. WTF? i thought. 10 mins later, it went off again. I live in a cul-de-sac road, my windows were closed, havent even driven the car all week.... why did the alarm go off twice?!?

  Ford Fiesta

mine has done it once, i did not hear it go off, but when i turned it off it had the 4 beeps, looked at led and it told me it had been triggered by a door, boot or bonnet activation.

it was at work, v strange.

do the 182 alarms/172 alarms come with hi jack feature to tell if someone tries to tow it away?

That happened to me in my 182 one night, alarm kept going off

turned out i had a moth flying about my car.

happened to mine a few months back. took it to renault to check and they changed a faulty bonnet switch.

Went to pick it up and it went off again. They plugged it into their fancy pc and monitored it. In the end it went off on the hour every hour!! apparently it does a scan of the sensors (doors/boot/bonnet) every hour and the alarm module was saying one of the above was being activated. Main module was changed under warrenty.

In the end I had to lock the car with out the alarm. ie sitting in passenger seat and hitting internal locking button and then locking passenger door with the key. Not sure if the Mk1 is the same though??

I had problems with my 205 - it had a Clifford Concept 50 something alarm, and the proximity sensor was under the coin tray.

It took months to figure out what caused the problems!

It was keeping loose change in the coin tray that did it!!! The coins f**ked with the alarm and made it spack out randomly! Took out the coins - no problems!! Bloody stoopid alarms!

The alarm is annoying.

Check thet you have closed the air vents as the alarms that sensative that open vents can set of an over sensative alarm.

not sure exactly what sensors you have but heat can set alarms off. I do domestic/commercial alarms and this week all Ive done is resets for PIR sensors triggering in the sun. You can test bonnet switches if you have an electrical tester. Set it to 200 ohms and put the tester either side of the switch, close the switch and then tap it with a screwdriver. If the resistance shoots right up (from about 1 ohm to 110 or so) then your switch is knackered.

I get the smae porblem with my clifford alarm on my valver. the battery seems to drain after a few days of not starting the car but the only thing thats on is the alarm. it goes off in really really heavy rain and ive tried to reset the sensitivity of it but didnt stop it from happening. Maybe car alrams dont like RENAULTS!

Theres an old trick used by TWOCers, they set your alarm off and then hide. They do it again 5 mins later and then again after that. Eventually you get fed up with it and switch it off. Then they nick the car.
