xb360 is crashing?

my xb360 is starting to crash on certain games, im getting no lights changing colour on the front or anything but its just getting to some parts of games and i can hear the disk clicking and then it just dies, the disks are clean with no scratchs on them so i dunno what it is,
any ideas?

Your DVD Drive might be faulty?. Have you tried watching DVD's and seeing if the same thing happens?. Ring Microsoft, if your unsure:

Its funny you should mention something like this. When I watch DVD's (only DVD's) my 360 (which is just over a year old) sometimes shuts off and reboots its self. No 3 rings or anything?. It only started to happen since I downloaded the last Dash-Update.

Anybody else experiencing any problems like this?.

We get this on my mates 360 quite frequently, we seem to think it's a heat issue. His 360 is enclosed in the tv media cabinet. When we open that up to play it never seems to crash.

Maybe investing in one of those fans might be a good idea. I'll take mine round to his to trial, and update

I must say, when it's crashed and I put my hand on the back of the 360 it is actually too hot to touch... that can't be good lol :S

does it die or freeze the game?

it just freezes the game, the noise of the xbox still running can still be heard, it just makes a ticking noise like the cd is skipping or something, i had not been playing it for that long before it crashed. heat maybe a issue cos it is in the tele unit on dop of a dvd player? i could try standing it on the side out of the cabnet, ill try the dvd thing cos ive never played a dvd on it yet

mine was freezing ingame, used to do it once a night after about 15 mins of play usually and did it for about a month before it just froze one day and never came back!

mine crashes after about 30mins of playing a game and says the disc is unreadable but ive got the 360 in like a tv stand and it gets megggga hot so i put it down to this maybe, probly die soon only had it since oct
