Clio 1.5 dCi from Portugal [MagNastiK]

  Renault Clio 2 dCi
very interested in the clutch side of things, my flywheel has gone so about to strip the box off and do the clutch while im at it, want an uprated one so i can get it mapped to run some mega torque!

Hy Martin,

well some fresh news about the clutch.

Next Tuesday, i will take my old clutch to rebuild and uprate it.

It will be uprated with ferodo and bronze to handle about 260lb/ft, i believe that's more than enough :)

This month planned updates:
-Sports GTB seats
-Coils
-Front RS Bumper
-Upgrade to 280mm EBC Ultimax discs

Awesome work fella!

Everytime I read posts like this from Portugal and Spain it makes me want to get another dCi.

It's only the injectors that causes the big problems with chasing more power as I understand it. edde from here always wanted to play with his but didn't want to start putting money into a pit of unknown depth and capacity.

No-one's ever done it before as far as I know so it would be interesting to do it, but on the flipside it will never be worth it from a business' perspective as not many Clio dci owners are interested in this kind of thing.

I might have a play later this year, get a cheap dci80 and source some injectors and aftermarket management.

lol 172 to a DCI. Don't see that everyday.

I don't blame you though. I'd be interested to see how it handles more power. At 80bhp I pegged it round the ring rarely off the throttle, I imagine with 60% more power you'll be wanting to consider some suspension and bigger ARBs.

Yes, the injectors, the real pain.
But i believe soon i'll get uprated injectors.

I'm working in the past months and yesterday i've been talking to a friend that works with diesel fuel pumps and injectors, and maybe it will be possible to change the nozzles from the stock dci80/100 injectors to another with more delivery capacity.

I'll post if i have good news.

AWESOME!!! who rebuilt the clutch? and how much it costing you?

Hi Martin,

well i went to a clutch shop that do this king of jobs and for competition cars/trucks.

Yesterday i arrived there (clutch shop) about 9am, went shopping with my wife for about 6 hours and it was the time it took to get ready.

Cost: about 160£

Later today i will pick up my car and test it. Then i will give my feedback about it.

Well,

clutch in place and the car looks more agressive switching gears.

And the first problem i had, broken engine/clutch support (too much torque) :)

I'm waiting for a new garrett actuator and new custom injector nozzles.

I'll be posting news.

Well....

can you see the diferences?

Let's learn portuguese:
Word "Durante" -> in english "During"
Word "Depois" -> in english "After"

hah loads of warning lights coming on

Hahhh that's the b*stard CommonRail pomp.

I call it the "Christmas Tree"

When in high revs the CR pomp is in full load and the CR pressure drops... so that's the warning.

Clio dci CR pomp can do 1400bars, but in full load drops to 700/800bar.

Thats why.

Yes... Clio RS Trophy front callipers and disks, and Clio 172 complete rear axle.

Cya,
magnastik

  Renault Clio 2 dCi
How easy was it to fit the rear axle? :)

The hardware is plug&play.

But to manage to get ABS work properly we need to change the rear ABS tooth crown.

The drums abs crown has different tooth number and in that way the abs will calculate different wheel turns, so the ABS will be deactivated.

To solve this issue just buy to ABS crown like the Clio 172/182 front ones and put them on the rear.

Ahhh... now power breaking is a lot better.

Well,

if we stop we die, so, as i will install a new turbo, i went shopping:

Garrett Actuator calibrated to 1.4bar of boost:

TO-DO:
- New turbo will be installed first week of August, because i'm going on vacations. The exhaust manifold is beeing worked to fit with turbo.
- Front bumper from clio RS 172/182 will be fitted also (painting)
-New FMIC (from ebay/UK)

And now, i need some help. Does anybody knows if Clio 172/182 owner's tried to install the Clio 197 RS 6 speed gearbox. I will install one in my dCi ;) and it would be good if there was some previous feedback. If there isn't i will do a Do-It Yourself to help anyone that wants to do the same.

the 197 6 speed boxes don't bolt on to the 172/182 engines (from what has been said on this forum previously.

Also, as I understand it, they are too long to get between the chassis legs on a MK2 clio.

Don't forget that Clio III 1.5 105hp has also TL4 6 speed gearbox, and that's the same k9k engine, so i believe it should be not so different.

I will analyse this, but i will try to fit it :)

its looking real good masnastik, nice progress, any news on the injector nozzles?

Not yet.
I'm on vacation and i my time is for my wife :) eheheh
Also, i'm moving from another house and i'm buying an AX GTi to play a little.

I believe clio will be finished with the new turbocharger and front bumper from 172/182.

Next step will be to add some power to the AX GTi :)

But i'm still trying to get the custom nozzles :) If i have good news i'll post.

nice magnastik, turbo looks a decent fit, keep taking lots of pics! you getting it mapped to suit after? i'd like to see what torque it can hold up with your new clutch

dci100 runs similar box to 197 i beleive, but also has a different bottom end to a dci80/65. your best bet would be dci100 bottom end with dci106 6speed box

After a hiatus, i'm backing for business.

I recently bought a Citro AX GTi, so i'm spending some time (and money) with it :)

Now, hope in the next few days get a new set of injectors with more fuel delivery to test it with my new turbo at 1.7bar of boost.

Then i'll notice you for results and the dyno sheet.

Cya,
magnastik

Cool magnastik! How is the new clutch holding up then? be nice to see a dyno sheet and see what torque thats running!

Whats your plans for the injectors? is the citreon ones you were saying?

Hi!

Excellent Project!

The best dci project in my humble opinion! ;)
waiting to see the dyno results, magnastik ur expectations for it (bhp) ?

Regard's.
