I rather keep the clio as a budget track car, just cant justify spending over £700 on coilovers for a car which i paid under a grand for. Car is mostly sorted anyway, just needs better tyres, more track focused brake pads an cup shocks an coosports/eibach springs an thats me done with the clio...
@JB21 Had a look an the BC DR coilovers are at £782, i just cant justify spending that much on the clio. They have V max coilovers which seem to be very cheap, would they be a better option then cup shocks + cooksports?
@Peperami I stipped the car a week before the trackday an the rear was sitting so high, so came across some apex springs local to me an had them fitted the next day, yes they are dreadful, ride is very harsh but because of this they may be ok on track? Reason why i was thinking cup shocks an...
Thanks for all the replies guys, to answer a few questions the clio is my first ever track car which ive only done 1 trackday in which was a wet miserable day. I have been a passenger in a few other cars an ive also driven a couple of mates cars round track for a few laps but these were not...
Hello guys, i have a stripped out 172 which i mainly intend to use as a budget track car. Done donnigton park couple of months ago, enjoyed it but was let down by the terrible weather an i have Bedford autodrome booked end of this month so i havn't really enjoyed the car properly yet.
I'm more...
Hello, i bought some used 172 cup shocks a few months ago as a upgrade for my 172 track car but when i gave them to the mechanic to fit in he said the fronts were no good, he said when pushed in they would not uncompress by themselves so i then returned them back to the seller.
Now i come...
Just about to order this setup, Ramair do 2 different sizes of the 70mm filter, one is bigger then the other, In the original post Fatty made the link he has put up is for the smaller filter, but will the bigger filter fit? I suppose the bigger the better really lol, i have added links for both...
Couple of questions for you all, was stripping my track clio 172 today and while i was taking the rear wiper out, i pulled the plug out the boot lock so now it doesn't lock with the central locking when pressing the button on the remote, I have looked and looked an i just cant find where its...
Just researching about the service parts for my 172 which will be mainly used on track. I will be getting the Fuchs titan race pro 5w40 oil, NGK PFR6E-10 spark plugs, fattys induction setup.
Couldn't really find much info about the coolant, just a few posts recommending the type d oem coolant...

Hello im looking on ebay for some used bucket seats for my 172 track project. I have searched on here but im still confused on what i need to fit them to the car. Is it just a subframe which i need? or do i need something called a side mount bracket aswell? as far as i know the subframe bolts on...
Someone else mentioned that too that when they stripped it the car had more body roll through the corners because there was less weight the the springs. A good mod would be to put the car on some decent springs or coilovers at the same time when you strip it out, i may do this when i strip mine.
i've just bought my 172 couple of weeks ago for mainly track use, i will be stripping the interior out this weekend. Does anyone know how much in kg i am likely to get out of it?
Hello guys, i am looking for a decent brake setup for my 172 which i will be using mainly for track days. I will be getting the brembo HC disks but need to know what pads to go for. I have narrowed it down to either the Ferodo ds2500 or the Carbone loraine RC5+, price for both is identical from...
