The 172 typically makes about 165 true bhp if its a strong one. The point of a rr is not to chase headline figures! Look at the drivability (torque curve/spread etc). If you are going to tune a car get a "base" figure first to work off so you know how much your money gets you. In the case of a...
TBH car is not in ideal condition cosmetically with f**king vandalism damage - bonnet, two deep dents about 50p size, slight ding in passenger rear and two small knocks on the roof when some pissed fucker decided to climb all over it outside work. One of the tips from the exhaust has also gone...
Surprised no-one has linked to the fast car review... not the best reading for viper fans http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?445339-Fastcar-Clio-172-Air-Filter-Test
Chaps, to everyone who has PM'd me regarding the car I'm currently looking at ways to fund a new engine. If not Dan has first refusal, I'll take some pics of the car over the weekend and pass on. Just bare with me as in my industry this weekend going to be like christmas.....Cheers :)
Hi all,
The bearings have gone on my engine, not ideal. Looking at secondhand engines at the minute. Question is, is it really worth it? I'm getting tired of how much its costing on fuel and insurance and I have a backup 106 quicksilver to scoot around in. I do love the car to bits though. I've...
dont bother with the induction kit, waste of money unless you like the induction snort (which is rather nice tbh) check out the Fastcar test thread sticky me bob at top of this forum. with a remap I always gained 8bhp and 10lb/ft, but that was right across the rev range. makes a difference low...
i have a a second set of injectors, intended for my car, but you are welcome to come over and try on yours, i'm free thurs night. I'm no mechanic though so you'll have to get your fingers dirty :)
had mine read (proper equipment) all it threw up was lambda, but only when the fault occurred. Had EML light flashing for about 30 secs when stationary in traffic every other journey, but ECU never logged anything from it
I have the same symptoms too on start up on occasion. It idles at 500rpm proper chug chug, foot down it'll clear its throat to redline then stall. Sometimes its taken best part of 5mins to get it going again
Keep me informed on this as I have exact same symptoms, and I've changed my lambda. Mine only rears its head if I pass 5k revs, drive it below that and its runs as normal, apart from 30mpg on motorway run. Not too far from you either at Haydock
De-phaser is gone chaps, Paul ddiagnosed it last time was over there, and since discovered leaky cam seals... work needs doing. Thanks for answering my questions though :)
As titled..... oil leak from cam seals = new cambelt
Should I replace water pump at same time or are these strong? De-phaser being done, car is on 94k
Its the rollers, on the same car I've seen 167bhp on RS tunings rollers then 192bhp on TDI norths with 160+ lb/ft.... they privately admitted that standard civic type-r's run 210bhp on theirs...
With rr's its not the peak numbers but the changes that matter. Get a base number then make sure you...
Been driving it around now for the past week, starts runs totally as normal but i've not dared pass 5k. mpg is still shot and EML flashes on/off every other journey now for about 30 secs. MOT due might as well take it to an engine specialist for it.
Overpriced by at least £700
I paid 2.5k for an 80k miler 7 months ago, belts done. Have a look on pistonheads too, loads on there similar spec & mileage for under 3k
for example http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3730174.htm
Feel really sorry for you Martin. Best of luck getting it replaced.
Only thing I can say is to echo the above and get every correspondence recorded & dated. Act professional about it. Don't leave anything to chance. These companies are ruthles and will try every trick in the book to avoid payment
