Just caught me before I signed off, as Marshall above says EPS whole new unit and column required. All I can say is beware of this out of warranty as Renault wont admit it but it would appear to be a common problem.
As the title says the 200 has gone part exchanged for a good price indeed against my new car. I have returned back to the fold of Japanese cars and pleased I am too. I have never been so pleased to get rid of a car as I have with the 200.
My views of ownership of the 200, pretty poor...
Following on from my post STOP steering fault.
Some may have read it some not, to cut a long story short if you haven't, my car came up with the above and complete loss of power steering, diagnosed independently as a failed EPS, then confirmed by Renault as the same.
Total cost for job £1450...
This is my own personal opinion so please read it as that. I have a 200 wish I had never bought it and to be honest as soon as I can afford to it will be gone. Reasons poor build quality, a lot of minor things but they all add up. Woeful fuel consumption for not a particularly quick car, the car...
Update as promised, well after all the diagnostic and other testing done it would appear as the though the EPS has in fact gone, dead, kaput. Mmmm new part price for this from Renault I believe is in the region of £900 .
Anyway as the car is only 3 1/2 years old and basically six months...
I hope so, he's the nearest person to me really under the circumstances, my mate took time off of work to transport it for me, the RAC man said it was ok to drive, I reckon even the hulk would have struggled steering it, I wasnt driving it anywhere. It was hard enough turning it round to get it...
Sounds more promising. No mate dont mind at all a local garage called Renotech in Llandudno junction, Ive not used him before but he comes recommended to me so I will see how he gets on. Yes he does have clip. I will post up when I get an answer back from him.
No mate not yet to be fair I had it taken their on a mates low loader and as much as Im eager to have it fixed he had other jobs to finish first ( I think sometimes we can forget this when we go to traders), he's going to look at it first thing in the morning for me.
Having looked round the...
:mad:As title says had this on my 200 this morning when reversing off the drive. power steering stopped working and elctronic stability light on.
RAC came and plugged it in and got an abs fault with no description fault code 51584d.
Car now gone to my local garage (renault specialist) any...
Bit of both really, they dont tend to work well together.
I'm all for making good safe progress.
But not appropriate here, the 30mph and 40mph are there for a reason approaching a housing estate, built up area, also the fact there have been fatal collisions there. Any way Im not going to say...
:mad:Blue 62 plate 200 A525 Between Rhuddlan and St asaph in the company of a Mondeo driving like a real pair of idiots, is there any wonder that people think everyone that drives a car like ours thinks we are all idiots
Clearly don't know what these mean.:mad:
As Dan said if thats the total length you have in the picture £150-£200 and thats if you dont get mates rates. The original looks like a bodge any way, the pillar doesnt even look as though ot was tied in.
Do you not have a mate or know someone who is a brickie, just tell them you will have the wall re built. it doesnt look a big job to be honest, especially if you were to do the labouring. Saves claiming on insurance :(
Been to the local dealer to have a look at these (waiting for the RS to arrive) and in all honesty I can,t decide whether I like them or not. Really not sure about the front end. The car I think looks similar to the Hyundai i30 (apart from the obvious front grille) not that Im saying thats a bad...
Here goes there is a strange noise coming from what I am sure is this area, the best way I can describe it is similar to when you have a bike wheel and one of the brake pads is catching but only at a certain point each turn more noticeable on a cold start up. Any ideas, is it a servicable...
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move if it is. I have been looking to buy a Nissan Navara/Mitsubishi L200, I know they are classed as commercial vehicles for tax etc, is it possible to use my car no cliams bonus when insuring them as most sites just direct you to a commercial...
