172 cutting out when hitting potholes

  Ph2 Flamer
Car has recently taken to cutting out if I hit a particularly nasty pot hole (but also occasionally just on hard acceleration). It never stops running though. Sometimes the radio cuts out a pile of lights appear on the dash as if I've just started the car but it doesn't actually stall to the point I have to turn the key.
I changed the battery terminal connector as the negative was loose and thought that had done the trick but twice thus weekend it did it under acceleration and then again this morning going over a mother of a pothole.
Difficult to explain really its like the power cuts for a split second but as long as my foots on the accelerator it keeps going and doesn't stall. Feels like an electrical issue but I haven't got the first clue where to start checking for loose wires and there's no specialists nearby..

Any suggestions for what to test / eliminate first?

Anyone? Went again on the way home under hardish acceleration, car jerked as if it was stalling but kept going. Engine management light came on for a second but nothing else.

Balls it's gotten worse, 3 times on the way home, even small bumps are causing it to lurch and half stall. Checked HT leads, coil pack, battery etc and all seem secure. Has to be something electrical coming loose when the car moves suddenly. Will check the gearbox earth strap tomorrow if I get a chance. In terms of leads and coil pack, other than swapping them out how can you tell if they are knackered? Anyone had anything similar....?

Cheers I'll give that a look as well then. Bloody car, I swear its the solid top mounts combined with the 3rd world roads in Cardiff. Need a bloody 4x4 if they get much worse.

Check the white connector in the bottom of the fuse box. Had a limp that was similar caused by it being dirty and not clipped in to the base of the fuse box, it kept coming apart over bumps etc. it's a fiddle to get to.
