Right, no one anywhere sells 13mm heavy duty O ring connectors,
I even rang an electrical wholesalers and they said they couldn't even order one.

How the f*ck can it be so hard to get a connector that costs a quid?

Why 13mm Dave? Are you on crack?

The outside of the nut will be 13mm, the hole on that bolt is likely 6 8 or 10mm.

So the inside of that o-ring wants to be 6/8/10mm, right??

F*ck knows, I hate the world!!!

I've got an electrician coming over later, hopefully he'll sort it for me,
I was only going by what people had told me.

8mm inner IIRC but measure it.

You can always just file or drill one out if its slightly too small so long as there is a wide enough ring on it, so any size hole if its a 13mm outer for example would be big enough once drilled.

I've just measured the hole, it's 8mm.

So i've been running round all day asking for the wrong f*cking thing!!!!!

It can wait until tomorrow now.

Yep, i've been in loads of places looking at those today. :dapprove:

Anyone know how much load it needs to be able to handle,
as in how much juice goes from the alternator to the battery?

Ok, the sparky came round, had a look and now i've got the correct connector,
I just need to find a 13mm nut now, then I can finally find out if it was the alternator connector,
or if I actually need a new alternator.

take a 13mm nut out of the back of your car seems as you havent got the rear seats in. then if its jobs a good'n. find another bolt for the rear later on ( or dont if your tracking it like you said ;) )

I've been given one that looks exactly like that, but it's got a 10mm hole instead of an 8mm hole,
but he said it can handle 200 amps, so it should be fine.

I think your doing well. It does good to have a go, you learn all sorts. For example. O ring crimps sizes are for internal diameter ;)

Dave, have you like most, not got a pot of random nuts and bolts? If not, I'm sure there's probably one you could nick off the car from somewhere that isn't vital for now.

I'm sure I can find a 13mm from somewhere, if not Homebase is just up the road.

I know what'll happen, i'll get it all sorted, jump start the car, stick the multimeter on the battery,
and discover it's still not charging and I need a new alternator. :(

Take it your miles away?? If your not tape the end up, charge the battery and fire it over, should be relatively simple.

Your doing well, wasn't being sarcastic!, if your not mechanically minded it ain't the easiest of jobs, you can undo the loom that's bolted to the block, give you more slack to play with!

:)

I'm in Coventry mate.

I might take the fuel rail guard of to give me more room,
I don't want to start fiddling with more wires, it's just something else i'll probably screw up. lol

Don't wory about posting a nut out, i'll get one from somewhere tomorrow when i'm out and about,
cheers for the offer though.

Cheers mate but i'm going to give it a go, I like the feeling of fixing my own car,
