Well I was thinking about the Ktec carbon one. Thought a tonne was a bit steap for what it is though. But then again, I suppose it is Carbon Fibre. Any pics of a Meggy splitter in action?

Try Specialist Renault Breakers, www.renault-spare-parts.com, tel: 01254 386661, that's where i got mine from.

It's from a mk1 ph2 megane (1999-2002), part number 77 00 426 531, £25+vat(ish) .

Do you have to modify it/ mess about much to fit it on? I assume you put it on a 182?....
Really want to avoid paying the silly money Renault want for the standard one!....

Hiya,

Sorry to jump on the tread! I have wanted a megane splitter for ages just verytime I try to get one nobody has them! Thank you Greg called your renault people and they have stock £25 + vat delivered within 2 working days!

Anybody got some tips for removing the std splitter from a 1.4 and fitting the new megane one? I know I will have to cut it down but tips would be great!

Thank you

I took the bumper off to fit mine (much easier access but a bit excessive), would be easier to jack up the front and put it on axle stands.

The megane splitter is just about the right width but too long on the ends, so no bending required really (a little at the corners but i didn't need to modify it) just need to chop off about 3" from each end (I used a junior hacksaw after i'd fitted it).

To actually fit it i got lots of self-tapping screws from B&Q (can't remember the size but only need to be 1cm long at most), about 30 of them for £2-3.

Line up the splitter and attach loosely with masking tape. Using a 1-2mm drill bit, drill a pilot hole throught the splitter and bumper (i started in the middle of the splitter) and screw in a self tapper.

Continue every 6" or so, can add more screws anywhere it's not fitting quite right.

Saw off ends, et voila!

EDIT: Was a while ago that i did this, so ask if I've missed something out!

Thanks for that, will make me fitting it abit faster! I wanted to ask you about removing the std splitter? Is it just a case of pulling it off once its been jacked up?

Thanks

Tbh I don't know as mine never had one on originally, presumably it's screwed on some how, rather than glued.

Standard splitters usually just stapled on so just go round and pull them off

the standard splitter (on the 182 anyway) is fitted with self tapping screws, you just need to undo them then the splitter will pull off...
