Clio 182 - Artic track beast

Not bad, when I spoke to Ed,the day I was taken before the exhaust was fitted so I’d like to think that if I got the car on the rollers I should see a bit more than previously stated.

This arrived today. Really nice bit of kit. Joel’s first carbon fibre ones.

Just not sure if I like it as is or cut the hole out for the horn push button. Hmmmm :nomouth:

For info the horn button is down by the headlight height adjustment button so I don’t need the sparco horn button it would be for looks only.

Also fitted my tow strap. Will get the car cleaned over the weekend and take some proper pics.

Cannot wait to pick this up tomorrow, big thanks to Carl.

Engine spec:
197 cams
EFI custom map
Fatty induction
Scorpion RS192 with decat

I could do with mine being remapped and on the rollers to really see what it has. my spec is exactly the same as yours so it would be interesting.

as mentioned I have a print out of 186bhp and 157lb without the exhaust.

Maybe get it into Carl to re-time it if unknown who carried out the work and get booked into EFI
engine dynamics have done the work so I'm quite confident its timed up correctly.
as I said remap was done with no induction or exhaust so actually 186bhp from a standard car with 197 cams is pretty good. doing it again with the full exhaust system and decat I'm sure it would achieve better results.

the car drives incredibly well, idles fantastic, no flat spots, revs very well all the way to 7,500 its a little rocket. just needs an update on the map to bring out its best :)

Been a busy couple of days. Where to start.

So protected the new wheels with gtechniq c5, lowered the car about 10mm to accommodate the smaller wheels and fitted them.

Next was to sort out the cmc splitter and struts. Can’t believe how easy it is to take the bumper off. Old spoiler off and new one attached. Then measured up the splitter struts and fitted for drilling.

Today the car has been fully cleaned. Washed, clayed, fusso’d the lot. No paint correction, it’s a track toy after all.

Also got rid of a load of stickers the previous owner had and now I think she looks sooooo much better.

Certainly more track focused/agressive.

Wheels fit perfectly with the addition of metal sprigot rings rather than the plastic ones supplied.

Anyway here’s some pics.

Any issues fitting the wheels, what with that weird issue with bolt holes being different to standard?

Yeah I seen that. Basically your original bolts don’t fit however they give you new bolts anyway.

Fitment is perfect, depending on the. Look you want the fronts may need a small spacer but to me the fitment is spot on.

So mixed day at beford yesterday. Started off great, I was shocking for the first 5 Laps and also getting a noise warning for drive by made me a bit twitchy driving past the microphones. Car made 93db static so not quite sure how I got 89db drive by.

Anyway after coming in and checking the tyres I just decided to not go above 6500rpm past the microphones. (Worked a treat).

So just before lunch I just started to push and was finally getting into the swing of things. Times are probably shocking but I was getting very low 3.10 a lap before stopping for lunch.

First lap out after the lunch was going great untill going down one of the straights before a very tight U turn I noticed that the steering was really heavy. Managed to nurse it back to pits when it went into limp mode and Was overheating. After inspection I noticed the alternator belt had come off. It was in perfect condition and thank god it didnt hit the cambelt. Then noticed the alternator loose, (thinking the bolts wound out)

Anyway game over so called the AA. Had to take the bumper off to get the car on the dolly which Is when I noticed the alternator casing had sheared off. Gutted.

a long day with a Fantastic first half, car performs so well and was really enjoying it. Second half was crap.

Huff! Now to google alternator change, the belt looks like it’s going to be a right pain to do but really don’t want to be paying a garage to do it. Also need an alternator that’s not going to crack.

Some pics for your entertainment.

Great track photos! I have noticed you have your foglights removed and replaced with brake air ducts.
Can I ask where did you buy the brake air ducts from was it eBay?
Thanks,
