Craig's 2nd Yella Peril - LY Megane R26

I like the R26R spoiler but you have to take the standard one off to fit it. This leaves a hole which will be visible when the new one is fitted. I'm very fussy and it would annoy me like crazy. However it does really finish the back of the car off.

Yeah I've seen the hole that's left but I will just bung it & touch it over with a LY touch up pen, it's a small price to pay for such a good spoiler I I think the r26 is lacking.

Aw i love my whistle, im going to get my rear box chopped and keep the middle one :)

I like the extra noise it makes removing the back box, but I no that whistle would annoy the hell out of me :(

i cheated on mine to get a whistle (take note my old 225 had 16 different set ups ) i de catted it no boxes at all on a 3inch custom system but it was that loud it wasnt allowed on the road so i added an r26 centre silencer and got a nice little whistle

Bloody hell I bet that was loud mate haha

Standard exhaust sounds good with a de-cat, but they are a pain to fit!

Ive thought about a decat but I'll just go with centre box chop for now, maybe go for a sports cat in the future to save the hassle of looking for a friendly mot place or swapping it over mot time, can't be bothered with that no more lol.

Well the buying has started the day before I pick the car up ha, just ordered the R26r spoiler off renault Wolverhampton cheers Adam, hopefully it will be here next wed/Thursday & get it painted before the weekend.

I know a friendly place if you do decide to get a de-cat ;)

I'm sure there is a guide on the magane forum for fitting the spoiler.

ha really that's good to know mate, you telling me that will just make me look for a decat now haha.

Ill have a look on there now for it, although I'm sure my dad has fitted a few I'll take to round his save me a job ha.

its a pain in the ass to fit mate lol make sure you dont lose the bolts!

Spoke to my dad & he said he's fitted quite a few so it's in his hands lol.

I picked the car up on Saturday & on the way home I stopped off at rs tuning to see Paul, got the service booked stamped for the 197 from when I had the belts done, & told him I wanted the sunflower mapping in April with the standalone ecu on. Also could he fit the Megane in on the same day to get a stage 1 map done I knew it wouldn't take long lol.

The car drove home perfect such a nice car to drive & I was getting 42mpg sticking to 70 all the way. Never used the car Sunday, however yesterday I made a trip to the local north eastern tyres & exhausts who do customs exhausts & got them to cut the middle box out. Great job as always & the car now has a lovely tone to it, it now sounds like it should have from the factory. On the way back from getting the exhaust done I had a spirited drive so see what the diff was like & I was still getting 32mpg. The 197 can only dream of these figures haha.

I hovered it out & give it a quick wash when I got back home, then began taking the F1 stickers off. Took the ones off the bumpers before I ran out of light so I'll get the rest off today, but I'm so glad I've took them off it looks so much better IMO.

Im going to give it another wash today, along with iron-x & clay bar treatment & hopefully get some wax on it.

Im really happy with the mpg up to now, i haven't bought it to get silly mpg out of it, i would have bought a diesel for that, but it is good to get decent figures when driving steady. Do you still think yours is going for a diesel mate?

Not sure yet, may have found a job closer to home that im just waiting to here back from. I had an interview there on friday and If i get it i think i may keep the Megane.

Mine does around 26-27 mpg but never gets out on a run and I have to admit I have a heavy right boot! Was about 23 but improved since I took the injectors out and had them cleaned. Well worth doing, cost sixty quid and the car runs much smoother too!

Hope you get good news then mate so you dont have to get a dirty diesel.

Looks like a nice example. Good colour choice too! You don't hang around with mods!

Thanks Joe it really is a nice looked after car, it was the only colour i wanted one in & I'm glad i stuck to my guns. Ha i no i dont like waiting so thought id try get some stuff done straight away.

Looks great old lad. Tempted to take my decals off too.

Cheers Greg, do it mate they look so much better off, i finished getting the rest of mine off today & it looks loads cleaner.

Didnt take you long!

Is your rear exhaust mount shot aswell?

Haha i no

Yeah the left hand side one is, I've secured it with a jubilee clip for now.

Most places pressure clean them, I think it's more of a thorough cleaning method. I took them to a place at Thornaby. It's a BMW specialist, will try and get the name Craig. Something tech I think?

I get 25mpg on average , but then again mines running 282bhp and 300 lbft, nice car welcome to megane ownership , ive had mine new from 2007 and still like it now

Can you not buy injector cleaner and soak them?

The last place i worked we sent them to a local place & got them done but i cant remember the name.

I reset my trip last night, not done it for months and managed to get 44mpg on my trip home from work

Haha good going mate bet your happy with that, I've been getting 30 since monday but thats been due to having abit of fun

Cheers Simon that would be great, i could get them done before it gets mapped, or just buy some 630's

Cheers David, I'm loving megane ownership so far & i cant fault the mpg, i get about 30mpg steady driving out the Clio with 320bhp (probs down to the good mapping) & this is just as fun with better mpg lol.

I managed to get the rest of the F1 graphics off & imo it looks so much better. I went over the full car with iron-x too, but it wasn't too bad tbh. Then give it a wash & used some wheel cleaner to get all the bedded in brake dust off the wheels.

I also fitted a spare aux lead i had so i can now listen to the music off my iphone.

Great weather at the moment to show off LY! Nice pics! Back to the injector thing, I think the standard ones will be fine under stage 1 but an upgrade might be better if mapped to stage 2.

Standard injectors are fine on stage 2, well mine have been for 3 years.

Looks good without the stickers, unsure if i want mine on now! haha

Yeah it has been good to show the colour off

Ive seen standards at almost 100% cycle at stage 1 but alot of people run them with no problems, i thought i could just go stage 2 but i probs wont as ive got the clio for power, so it will just be stage 1.

What torque has your been running for 3yrs karl?

Haha do it mate i promise you'll love it

looking sweet mate!

Thanks Adam :)

Did the stickers leave any marks at all Craig?

No mate its fine, just abit of glue that didn't want to come off but some glue & tar remover i had soon got rid of it.

So yesterday this turned up for the car, cant wait to get it painted & fitted :D

Had the car a few weeks now & I'm absolutely loving it, when driving it normal the mpg it gets is pleasing compared to the 197, extra power & better on fuel lol.

Anyway I've done a couple more things to it, i bought a clio 200 steering wheel off 24JSeymour end of last year & but its just been sat in the garage & i was going to sell it but soon as i had decided i was getting a megane i changed my mind. It didn't come with an airbag but a local lad off 197.net was selling one. I fitted it last week & I'm glad i didn't sell it now, even though its no smaller than the megane wheel it looks it & feels loads better nice & chunky.

The rear bumper trims either side of the exhaust were looking very faded & dull so i painted them in satin black & they look brand new now, i done the same with the front grills on the 197 & its a massive improvement.
