CS Areas Day 14 (SCOTLAND) 21.09.14

Dan

This is going to be a ClioSport.net national event with a twist! :)

The CS area reps (that are still active) have come together with the idea that EVERY AREA will hold a meet on the same day (Sunday the 21st of September 14) at the end of the season.

The main aim for this is to allow the people that could not attend the larger events this year for whatever reason to attend and hopefully these events will be closer to 99% of member’s homes than the other large events. :)

As Scotland seems to have lost its active area reps in the area I am looking for someone or a few people to step forward and sort the event out, I would say it needs to be someone or a few people from busy part/ parts of area though.

Preferably it would be someone or a few people who is very active on the forum and has time to be able to put in the graft to make this a success.

As this is going to be a national event all the pictures and write ups from every area will be coming together into one CS Areas Day 14 thread also :)

Any questions then fire me a PM

Cheers

Dan :)

Update - Please contact sburrell93 if any more info is required

DETAILS FOR SUNDAY:

Locations:

  • Krispy Kreme

16 Lochside Avenue
Edinburgh
EH11 4DF

  • Raceland

Upper Diamond
Gladsmuir
East Lothian
EH33 1EJ

Times:

  • Meet at Krispy Kreme between 10:30 and 11:00 (I'll probably try to get there around 10:30-10:40)
  • Leave Krispy Kreme between 11:30 and 11:45
  • Arrive at Raceland for 12:15
  • Event starts at 12:30
  • Event should end at the latest 15:30

All drivers who have paid deposits will need £25 for the karting. Anyone who hasn’t paid a deposit and is simply paying on the day will be £50 (believe there’s only one or two of you).

Food and hot drinks are available at Raceland if you feel like something to eat.

It goes without saying that everyone is expected to be sensible when driving from Krispy Kreme to Raceland if we’re doing so in a convoy!! Don’t want to attract the wrong kind of attention to ourselves.

Also, anyone is welcome to attend if they like! Come along to KK and meet people if you’re new on the forum. Come to the karting if you like, but you’ll be bored :p

Think that just about covers everything. Any other questions just ask.

Shame to see how little is organised up here now. I hoped I'd got the ball rolling again but it seems not :(

I'll happily attend but the same reasons for resigning stop me from being able to volunteer. Hope someone steps up to the task.

I'll attend this. Had a quick word with Dan and I'm more than happy to help out with organising it too.

I think going on what I've seen in the Scottish group it might be best to split it into two areas though and have a meet in the central belt and another one for the highlands, in Inverness or something. If anyone else would be willing to help let me know :)

Think it's probably worthwhile getting an idea of who's up for attending this, so I'll start off a list. Just add your name if you're up for attending.

Hopefully can get an idea of who will be going and can work from there on location, whether or not to split central belt and highland guys up etc.

Also .GAZ. Djw John any ideas/suggestions as to how to make this meet less shite and actually get some scottish meets up and running again? I've attended one since I joined here which didn't really turn out very well, and I reckon there's been about 2 in total organised since I joined. It's pish!

I'll be brutally honest mate. All the members that have been on here for a good few years, just can't be arsed any more. We see a lot of each other at Knockhill, which keeps us all in contact.

I have no desire to attend meets unless it involves my flying round Knockhill lol.

Most of us have kids and work commitments now, that we didn't have before! I've met a right good bunch of pals through CS but we socialise more on FB than on here.

Kind of thought that would be the case really! Completely understand everyone having other commitments too, especially with you older ones ;) lol.

It'd seem the point of this meet is to reach out to all the ones who can't make the other meets throughout the year though (not that there even is any up here), and it'd be good to get a half decent turnout for it to try and keep the meets alive and get people socialising and stuff again. Only problem is none of the scottish members new or old seem to be up for anything now. It's a shame really.

We need a proper rep again tbh. I'd do it but I wouldn't want to end up in over my head!

I dunno. I think it's tricky because so many of us have known each other for near on a decade it makes it hard for the younger guys to join in. But we need more of the yoof to get involved like we used to be. I can't say I ever cracked it when I was area rep but I always tried to make an effort to speak to the guys and girls who were new. Tricky sometimes but worth the effort.

My idea of plans for a day like this one (it was mooted last year) is for it to be an activity. So karting/lunch or what have you. I still really want to organise a sprint day at kames but I'm not even considering it until next year.

We used to do a lot of driving meets but they died a death a bit after a fairly major accident (and about 5617171 near misses at 100+mph!!)

Karting would be a good idea! Ideal for me too I live about half a mile from that Xtreme karting lol!

My basic thinking for this was find somewhere for everyone to meet up, then weather dependent, spend a little while getting pics and stuff, then head off to some sort of activity like you've said John. Something like going for food or karting

It would seem that getting numbers is the hard bit at the moment! Hopefully if we get the numbers I can start organising and collecting deposits early enough to still have a backup plan if it all goes tits.

Might send a group PM round the scottish region to try and get some more interest in this.

I might still have the full list, I'll check on the comp. I can always set up an event on the cs Scotland fb page to try and help.

That'd be a great help cheers! I realise you gave all this up after having other more important commitments but even a little help with things like setting up the fb event would be brilliant.

Not a problem at all mate. It's stuff like deposits etc that I didn't want to be doing just now. Can barely remember my own name never mind chase and collect 30+ deposits!

Count me in for attending though.

I would be game for that lads. Difficult part is if in off work or not that day

Good stuff mate. Would you know closer to the time about having the day off work? If karting was to go ahead then deposits would most likely need to be collected a decent bit in advance, although I'll really need to phone up and find out what the deal would be with them.

Lol no worries mate. I can't really see last minute changes in numbers being an issue with karting tbh. Just need to find out what the deal would be with putting deposits down and stuff.

I would be up for this and happy to help out, as previously said Scottish meets were brilliant.

Best thing to do is get a new thread going with a date, location and time then send PM's out (where possible) to active members.

*Edit - need to check when tax runs out on Clio

as been mentioned, all the long time regulars are now mates and don't need regular meets to catch up or whatever. I'm not a regular user as such but i feel doing something we all like would keep it from getting quiet.

go karts would be awesome,
everyone like knockhill
everyone likes go karts

Go karts at knockhill???
they do offer an endurace event (teams of 2 ... 100 laps) and can do a buffet for approx £35 a head iirc

I'm not fussed where tbh as long as there is go karts

and food
