Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Feates172, dependant on size of car and how generous a dilution you have it set to, 1l in a snowfoam bottle should coat at least 4cars.

jhead, mix up shampoo mix as clay lube if youre using that much. But I normal use a sponge to wet the panel then clay lube an area as I work. I wouldn't use more than 500ml

Not going to lie here, the first time I did it today I used the whole bottle on my car. 2inches of avalanche the rest warm water.

First time I've used it so was getting familiar with the settings, and generally having fun. Second time round I used magifoam, and used half.

IMO, magifoam being the better one, seemed to cling better. Think that's why I used a lot less.

Anyone recommend a good grease to apply to door hinges etc after cleaning them? Just something that does the job but doesn't create too much mess/leave noticeable residue behind.

My CTR has arrived from Gally!

Any recommended applicators to use boys? It's VERY oily.

Anybody considering the sonax brilliant shine quick detailer....

Just do it.

Easiest thing in the world to use. Spray on, spread, buff off.

INSANE beading. Like nothing I've ever seen. If it lives up to its durability claims then it is the best thing I've ever used in detailing

Yep. The polymer net shield seems like
It's a much cheaper version of EXO, but it actually works

Might try it.

But tbh this QD is meant to be 6months+ and has withstood some pretty harsh tests. X

Yeah i'd like to see what durability is like. This C2V3 blows my mind.

On the roof it's mental. How can it bead and sheet water like that through dirt!

Nearly finished my C2 mate. Going to get a bigger bottle next time. It's too good! Seriously I hate most s**t but I can't help be impressed!

How does it hold up against big splats? I fear that with the better weather coming up, using stronger pre cleaners on bugs may remove these coatings?

Bit if they don't break through the barrier then they should hopefully just jet wash off

I've no idea mate. I never use anything strong.

Surely the whole point of an Lsp is to protect the paint. If bugs are sticking to the paint the lsp is doing it's job?

I really want to use C2V3 but with Sonax QD producing the water behavior it does coupled with the fact its a QD..... I think that will win it for me.

Hoping I can top CQUK with the Sonax as itll be ideal now I have a black car. QD is essential! C2V3 isn't really a QD so I couldn't wipe a dusty car down with it.

Lack of a hosepipe for me is a killer. Ive started using the local jet wash and will be 2BM washing there instead and using a QD to wipe down dust where appropriate.

What do people recommend for rain repelant for the windows? I have used some aqua stuff before but didn't last long. I want something easy to apply but lasts a bit? Cheers :)

Whatever you use the windscreen will need reapplying anyway due to wipers, although with repellant I've found I haven't had to turn them on unless it's quite heavy. I use turtle wax stuff, wipe on, wipe on again, wipe off, fairly quick. Doesn't last that long, maybe like a few weeks, but I guess if you keep applying it after every wash on the windscreen it will layer up and last longer?

Was about to post this in someone's thread. But I thought, rather than s**t on a rainbow, I'll get advice here.

is extra gloss protection s**t, or am I using it wrong?

ive used a small bottle twice since I got it and shelved it after not getting on with it.

i think (it's been a while) it went on like piss water, didnt seem to 'go off' and didnt do much afterwards... No beading, sheeting, gloss etc

Any advice/input?
