Hey all , just picked up my car from a place called m tech automotive , they have fitted jenvey throttle bodies and there v4 ecu , the car has 428 cat cams , 182 manifold , de cat and janspeed exhaust , and few other bits and bobs , and it only made 182bhp, the problem is the car has no low down power any more :dapprove: , it seems like it only starts revving when it gets past 3.5k revs and is very lumpy when pulling of , the thrust bearing is also rattling its tits of , had a brand new clutch 200 miles prior to going there (sachs) , does this happen when they put it on the rollers to much and havent got a big enough fan to cool the engine , the guy there matt assured me the car would be running fine after the throttle bodies but it isnt , im going to ring them up tommorow and get it back into them just want to know if anyone has any ideas what ups with it , they also had the car nealry 2 months doing it so had it ages

Sounds like the mapping is utter crap... most 1*2's make that power with breathing mods!

Do you have any RR print outs?

yes , itb's ecu and map , they have taken the old ecu out though ?? the car also looks like the battery is not charging , i done some research and the guy is good at mapping cars (obviously not clio's though) , i know most clios make that with matched inlets and a remap so it is crap

Hmmm. I was going to suggest the classic timing, but shouldn't be that.

Did they give a reason for taking the old ecu?

they said there ecu wasnt compatable with it , i will be taking it back just checking to see if anyone has a clue to why it is running s**t ??

I wouldn't of accepted the car back..

how much did you pay for the work?

Any photos of your engine bay since the work was carried out?

definately this!

I think you may be about to have a few problems!

I would put in writing everything I wasn't happy with and decide on a time scale for them to rectify matters.

They have had your car a long time already!

£2100 , will be getting it back there in the next few days , will get photos up tommorw , the work they have done is quite messy mind , picked the car up at 8 o clock and didnt really get a good chance to give it the once over

they tried saying more but as they agreed a price before the car went there i wasnt paying it as i made sure a price was agreed , its not very good from a companie that specialise in throttle bodie conversions , regardless of the car , they even had a how to install throttle bodies to a clio print out on there desk ???

To be honest... If I had spent just over 2k on my car I would expect the work to be spot on! And not accept it back until all is correct.

If on decent engine management / map your set-up should be making just over 200bhp!

Take it back, explain what's wrong. Agree with them a date of when you want it sorted by, check where your O/E ECU has gone.

If it doesn't work out, I'd be asking for it to be put back to standard and go elsewhere.

Wouldn't trust them to get it right.

210 with cams? I make 204 standard engine and cams

adeyspec racing , 214bhp it made i think , 204bhp is good , regretting ever going to this companie now as they seem like they havent got a clue what they are doing , but assure me they have

  Venturi,GTT van,
I drove the car home and it is deffo not right. There is no low down grunt and the power does not come till it comes on cam. It also stinks of fuel inside the car and from the exhaust you can smell un burnt fuel!! The wiring needs tidying up too. So I agree send it back, but I am still not convinced they know what they are doing with renaults!!! I hope it gets sorted as nick was very dissapointed which suck's after paying a fair sum of money!!!

Talk to them mate, im sure if they are a good company then they will sort the problem out.

The V4 is a good ECU, i think there is a mapping problem with you saying there is no low down power

they assured me it wasnt mapping though and when i said that is very low he told me it was not all about figures and about how it drove on the road (obviously not) and told me he maps 100's of cars from race cars to road cars , they can have the car back till it is sorted and making good power , cheers for all the replies guys

do you reckon it could be ecu related then , the ecu not liking the car ?? what about the vvt does that run of the ecu?? 1000+vat they charge for there ecu fitted , seems a bit of a rip of

Seriously, agree a time limit with them, and get it in writing!

It may sound ott now, but it could save you a LOT of pissing about later.
