Help with mail

Starting to annoy me now.

I have it synched with my gmail account and as gmail by default has the inbox, all mail and important, any message I get comes through and shows on the dock as 3 new messages. It wont let me just remove the mailboxes on mail and cant figure out how to stop it telling me mail in anything but the inbox is not actually new mail

Same goes for the spam folder

Are you using gmail as a POP or IMAP account? I had a similar issue but changed the gmail setting to IMAP, created the account again in mail and it worked better. Also when deleting/moving emails from mail, it does the same on the server (gmail)

its showing as an IMAP. Gonna delete it and try again

Presuming you're talking about a mac computer and not an iphone ?

Mail : File > Prefs > General > Dock unread count > Inbox only
