knocking on valver

thought it was engine mounts,happens every time i change gear but once i had a look underneath engine noticed a 1" pipe just to the left of the manifold and the cat pipe flange,what runs straight to bottom of engine,happens to be loose just wondering what it is?

hope you can understand what im getting at just a bit concerned with it
