New lens for my Nikon D3100

I'm going to Barcelona at the end of this month, I currently only have the standard lens that comes with the camera.

I am hoping to take some good pictures while there, but wouldn't mind a new lens. Maybe a zoom one.

Just wondering what would be a good option. Wouldn't want to spend more than £150.

I’ve seen the 50mm F1.8G for £150 nowadays, and personally I’d go for that over the 35mm F1.8G.

Not sure on pricing now but the 55-300 vr2 lens isn't very sharp but editing can sort that a tiny bit. The vr is brilliant though, very impressive.

I’ve seen the 50mm F1.8G for £150 nowadays, and personally I’d go for that over the 35mm F1.8G.

Don't really enjoy 50mm on a crop, but that's just down to my own taste.

However, the 50mm f1.8g is great on my D600.

Yeah I had both the 35 and a 50 on my crop Nikons and I’m the only person who’s preferred the 50, maybe it just suited what I wanted to shoot.
