Project: BMW E21.

LOL!

I expect it'll be a while before I can do anything to the paint, correction wise. Having said that, I don't think there will be anything to correct!

Its going to get all the Zymol though!

Just read the whole thing while at work. Absolutely brilliant, probably my favourite car on here.
Out of interest are you not spraying the BBS kit at the same time?

Ahhh yeah, I thought this might crop up, I've decided against the BBS kit, I'll be getting it repaired and sold.

I just don't think it will work with the de-bumpered front end.

Im certainly eating my words, I know :(

Just found an old picture I took in Munich, have you parked it up in front of the building?

After 4 weeks and 6 days, the shell has returned, with fresh Topazbraun Metallic paint :)

The sun is out today, and it really shows off the warmth and depth of the finish.

I'm over the moon, tbh!

Can't really tell in a photo, but the flake pop is awesome! It almost looks like it has glitter all over it.

Smoothed front end.

Amazing.

How long before it's back together? Can't wait to see it fully built!

A while yet, I'd like it to be done by the time I go on holiday, so the last week of June.

Of course that will be just rebuilt, it won't be fully finished with a new interior and various other bits for a long long time!

That's awesome. I absolutely love seeing progress on this car, great thread.

If you don't mind telling me, how much does a decent body resto and paint job like that cost? PM if you don't want to stick on here.

Well, bear in mind a full resto means dipping the shell, and rebuilding everything down to the last nut and bolt.

I've had done:

Welding in various places.
Full blow over respray (engine bay hasn't been painted).
New sills.
Smoothed front valance.

That all came to £1700, but I think he looked after me on it, as I'm a friend of a friend.

At the moment, including the purchase of the car, I think I'm up to £5k, with a lot still to do.

I'm not worrying too much about the costs of it, as long as I'm enjoying the process, I'm happy :)

I wouldn't worry too much about cost either, that approach I can endorse fully :)

It is shaping up beautifully mate, and its going to be awesome. That is money well spent in my eyes. I'm jealous, and off to car and classic to hunt a potential project down.

More progress today:

Headlining out.

Painted up the metal on the interior, not perfect, but it sits behind carpet, so it doesn't really matter.

Rear lights cleaned up with eraser, then waxed with FK100p and fitted to the car.

Can't be his 200 - it's dirty

Wings, doors, bootlid and sunroof are all still being polished.

Think I'm picking the doors up tonight.

Nope, I think I'll need a day of meditation before that, seeing as it's the most awkward thing ever fitted to anything.

Because I love you I'll help when you do it. So long as you provide safety goggles.

I've only actually got a black bin. I've lost my green box twice in 6 weeks.

Two bins was to much for me.
