Right over the next few months i plan on fitting a pure motorsport lightened pully/ aircon removal kit, my question is can i keep the dash buttons or do i need the controls from a cup? (with no aircon) or will the basic heater/blowers work from my climate control dash setup?

Why do you need to remove the aircon blower unit from under the scuttle?

I removed the Air con from my cup, a lot of people dissconect the air con lines just before the bulkhead (at that funny rectangular manifold shaped thing), i didnt realise you could do that and just hacksaw'd the pipe off.

Got pee'd off cos it looked nasty, so removed the entire blower unit and took the air con rad out, its fiddly, but will only take a couple of hours. I then use my climate control panel to control the heaters / recirc as normal.

he asked if the basic blowers would work? Thing is the CC'd cars has a large letter box hole in the bulkhead for recirc air to be pumped in, and as far as im aware proper cups have nothing there, so youd need to blank that off too unless you like having drafty feet!

Sorry to steer this off topic slightly.

does the cup have a slightly different blower unit??
as im building my track car and want to keep a heater, but idealy id like to cut down on the contents of the scuttle without loosing the blower!!

but it looks like the blower is built into the recirc unit??

Much smaller not sure on wiring. Ours is lighter still in the race car. We use an old Mk5 Escort one

i wasnt on about removing the blower, just removing the aircon and the standard climate control panel working, Laine_16v do you have a picture of your bay with it removed? can you see where the aircon used to be at all?

To the people above ^^ i apologise ive probably missed the point completely and rambled on :p

Ill take some pics tommorow, but where the pipes for the aircon go through to the scuttle area (on a cup), there is a fabric reangular blank. On mine i removed the heat exchanged rad from the blower unit completely and blocked up the hole with some high density black foam, looks OE ish and works perfect.
