Strange whining

Hey,

I currently have a strange whining noise in my clio, its a 2000 1.4/16v Si manual.

When im in 3rd and 5th gear between about 1700-2100 rpm it makes a slight whining noise?, only when i am accelerating though, if i come of the accelarator it stops?

Any ideas?

missus in the passenger seat???
if its only in 3rd or 5th gear.. then i would have the oil replaced in the gearbox...
pending that you may have shot the bearings that hold the lay shaft in the gear box.
i doubt thats the case.. but worth looking into..

Hey,

Is it possible to change the lay shaft bearings without a gearbox rebuild? or taking the box out (not entierly sure where the layshaft is), not too knowledgable on it?
