  Whichever has fuel
I have a transit connect and as long as fuel is covered, I'm happy to donate a day collecting engines/bits from A and delivering them to B.
I love driving and my own company so I'd be happy to.
Sadly it's only a 70bhp so I can't offer to collect the car. :-(

Top man ^^ well, whatever doesn't fit in the boot of the 5-touring, we may need to rely on you :)

I didn't want to impose on you mate as I know how busy you are; especially as I will be needing to get the bits moved from Dan's place up to near Nottingham. It's a fair old trek!

No worries... we may need to figure out a solution that works around my hectic travel and family life, but like you, I just want to get on with my project, so if I can help someone else move on with theirs, then I'm really happy to do so. Is everything you need at Dan's?

I'm happy to help. Only because it's Andy!
Also worth noting, my van does about a gazillion mpg.

You're a legend mate, thank you :) x
Give me a few days to sort things out and I'll get back to you. It may be the case that a lot of the bits will fit in @rdoxenham's 5-Series Tourer and on his trailer.

Indeed - @Daniel is a top man, very much like yourself :)
If we can arrange something that is convenient for yourself then I would very much like to take you up on your kind offer :) Being my own boss means I can be quite flexible with my own time hence happy to work around your schedule. However, I don't want you to put yourself out so please don't feel obliged in any way. Whilst I'm grateful for the offer of help I don't want to be taking up your family time (or, indeed, recuperation time given your hectic travel schedules!)

Hahaha, thanks mate! If your services are required then I'll be happy to take your kind offer. I don't expect special treatment and you'll be compensated fairly - free time is valuable these days :)

That's still 70 more than the Trophy at the moment....

Sorry Andy I couldn't resist lol 🙈

I'm happy to help out as well.

  A special one.
Who is taking on the work?

I really hope that chap who has just built the space frame 205, he would be perfect for this car. [emoji41]

He would be the perfect guy to finish the car off for Andy, he can do fabrication work, electrical work, mechanical work and anything else the car needs to be finished and not only that but to an amazing standard. [emoji41]

This isn't going to be a car that can "just be chucked back together" over a weekend it's been built to be special and it would be a real shame if it wasn't finished off to the same standard that the build started. [emoji106]

Don't worry mate - it will be going to a trusted pair of hands and there won't be any corners cut :) After all this time a bit of extra care and attention to finish it properly won't hurt!

Well I'm going to hazard a guess it's going up to Mick at Diamond motors going off Andy saying it's going to Nottingham?

I agree, there's been a lot of really nice fabrication work on this car, and it's come too far along down the road to end up being a mongrel. There are some talented folks on here and I'm sure they could tackle most of the issues, but over a couple of days the reality is there will be corners cut.

If this gets finished before my Megane @SharkyUK !!!!!

Mick should do you right, so long as you keep him fueled on cream eggs and ginger insults.
:p Don't worry, I'm sure your Megane will get priority! I'm not asking for any special treatment or favours; I know he has other commitments that take priority. However, at least I know it will be done and to a high standard. I'm kinda hoping he'll take Creme Eggs as payment as that's all I've got left... :p Plenty of insults for him though. I know how he likes those.

It will be done properly mate, and that means getting the right people in as needed. If there's work needs doing that Mick can't do himself then it will be going to someone who can do it to the standard of the existing work. :)

That's one thing I can confirm... The guy has an annoying attention to detail and doesn't let jobs leave unless they've got his GingerRage™ approval :)

If anything needs doing while it's up here, I am happy to help (read: annoy / frustrate / harass Mick even more than I do already)... But seriously, I can relate to your emotion around this damn car! - I really want to see it back on the road! - Let me know if I can assist.

Got to watch those ginger tempers

Yep - he has a [professional] reputation that is well-earned and well-deserved.

Thanks for the offer of assistance, too - that's very kind of you mate :) I'll give you a shout if something crops up. Cheers! Mini-meet at Mick's place?

I really hope this car is everything you want it to be once you get it on the road. I seem to follow this car around.... iv had my clio 7 years and i used to use fred and saw the car up at his many a time, two years ago i saw it down at dan's and this week iv just booked my 182 in with mick in August so might see it again! We need a cliosport day out/drive out to celebrate the return of 165 to the roads when she is all up and running! All the best with it.

And good news!
Thanks, Chris :) Maybe when the end is in sight something can be arranged...!

Thanks mate - I appreciate the well-wishes :) You never know, you may just see a heap of Capsicum Red Pink bits in the corner of Mick's workshop! :tonguewink:

I'm all for a ClioSport day-out / drive to celebrate the return. Please don't break down, please don't break down... :)

Back on the road yet?

If not, Mick's s**t. Queue the CS mob.
I feel sorry for anyone daft enough to enormous gratitude towards whoever takes on this project. I've actually heard a few things about Mick's reputation but, thankfully, that's nothing to do with his business and a whole different story for another time... 😂

at least give him a couple of years
FLOL! Don't even go there mate! :fearscream:

I hear there's track time still available at csf next month. Tell Mick to pull his finger out!
Well, that's the aim... ;) Joking aside, I am looking forward to hitting a load of car events once she's back and running. There's a lot of lost time to make up for.

July 2017 - Update #2

As you may have gathered from recent posts the project has come to a fork in the road. Well, more of a cul-de-sac than a fork! The current situation was simply not workable due to "my team's" commitments, work, family life and various other reasons; the upshot being that Dan and Mike simply did not have the time to coordinate their efforts and help take the car all the way through to the finish. It's a shame as I would have liked to have seen them take it all the way but - sadly - that's not possible. Having spoken to them both I know they are as disappointed as I am. Without dwelling further on the point I will say that I am extremely grateful and appreciative for the help and advice they've provided to this point and that their abilities and workmanship were never in doubt; it's purely an issue of time and I really need to get this car completed.

So yeah - a bit of a cul-de-sac is where things currently stand. Thankfully I have new help available who will soon get things back onto the open road. Somewhere in the vicinity of the M1 motorway around Nottingham most likely...

450sqpx-MickDoll.jpg

Mick at Diamond Motors (https://diamondmotors.co.uk) has generously, if somewhat stupidly, agreed to take over the project. :tonguewink: As many will know he's an extremely ginger capable Renault specialist and I have every faith that he will see Trophy #165 back on Her Majesty's finest roads soon. The best news is that he prefers payment in Creme Eggs (long story) so that should save a few quid on the budget (although that very much depends on his appetite, of course).

I'm now at a point whereby I'm looking to arrange the forthcoming movement of various bits and pieces over to Mick's workshop. I'm absolutely touched (no - NOT in that way!) that the wider Clio community has come together and offered me such support and offers of help. Bloody legends!

Naturally there's going to be a period of transition (and Mick has existing commitments and customers to deal with) bu I'm hoping to soon bring you a few happier updates as progress on Trophy #165 picks up again.

Cheers!

I remember seeing it last time it was rather pink.... If i do see a heap of stuff i might swap my exhaust with yours I haven't had mine started in over 18months and feel excited to get it back on the road so i really can't imagine how you will feel! Hopefully not much longer.

Stay away from my shiny new exhaust! You can buy my old one if you want? I need to clean it up and sell it (I think I have a couple of people interested already).

Holy cheese balls!!!

I go away for a few months and it's all but kicked off! If only I'd have passed my B+E by now, then I'd have offered too, as I've got an Alhambra which is full of... well, space!

I love seeing a group of people that don't know one another, being helpful towards their fellow man and in this case their fellow enthusiast that's been walked all over, put on the back burner and is thousands down the pan without a single drive in his beloved beauty!

I give this two weeks and I want to see it moved 😂

I tell you what @SharkyUK August 1st I'd like the "when Push comes to Shove" update, where you've pushed it onto the trailer and it's on its way to a happy place

Hahahaha! :) Thanks for the reply, Karlos!

Yeah - there are some genuinely good people within the community who have been fantastic in terms of support and helping get bits moved from one place to another. Whilst I know a few of them well, there are others who I haven't really yet had the pleasure of meeting. I hope I get the opportunity to meet them soon so I can thank them face-to-face.

Two weeks may just be a little too soon in terms of getting it moved! Space is currently being made for Trophy #165 in Mick's workshop but he has a couple or three other jobs to finish off first. But worry not, it will be happening and #165 will drive again :) I've already spoken to my detailer friend who will be giving her some TLC when she comes home. I've also sorted out storage for the car as I don't have a garage at my current property. This means she'll be safe, secure and kept in good condition over the winter :)

What sort of timescale has Mick given you for this being finished Andy?
There is no timescale yet mate. I'm waiting until Mick can finish off his current workload and then we can refine the plans. It's quite a big project to take on so we'll cross that bridge when he's able to give it his full attention :) In the meantime, the plan is to get the car and all the bits to the workshop as soon as space becomes available - which will be in a few weeks time.

Patiently awaiting another update to this. Glad to hear it's going in the direction you and all of us want it to.

I'm around for 2/3 hours at a time in Nottingham when I'm at work, so if you need anything or if I can help out then let me know.

Fingers are crossed for you and 165!

Good luck

It has been a little on the quiet side to be fair. However, I am hopeful (really, I am!) that things should soon be moving again. Plans are being put together right now so... watch this space :) Again. Cheers buddy!
