Throttle Pedal Cut

Here's the problem (Standard Ph2 172), now and again the throttle wil cut out (no response from the pedal) whilst driving and the engine will continue to run. The problem is nine times out of ten remedied by cycling the ignition on and off. Has anyone else experienced anything similar??

Throttle potentiometer? Had the Same problem in a friends car, u will pay a little more for 1 with a metal pedal but we just bought a standard 1 a little cheaper an swapped the metal pedal off his old 1 a diagnostic check should confirm the fault
