Timing belt

  clio 172 mk2
hey yall whats up,
well i am finally getting adapted to the clio 172 now and DAMN this is such a fun machine to drive but the question raised right now is how difficult is it to change the timing belt right now the recommended was 60k but im on doing about 77k im going to do a service at 80k cause the 77 is where i bought the car from,
but i have a major issue i dont know if the technicians down here are that experienced at changing the timing belt properly so what i wanted to know is, if there are ne pointers to look out for when changing it cause i do want to as it is an important safety feature to do, however my sceptics of the workers working on this car down here has me concerened and the previous owner ne advice on procedures or what i should pay special attention to with regards to the timing belt would be greatly appreciated peeps,
bless up der....

I'd recommend Renault or Renault specialist, not worth risking in my opinion. The tensioners, pulleys etc wil also need doing for the work to be guaranteed. Had mine done a few weeks ago by a Citroen/Renault specialist and it cost me £352 in all. Not worth taking shortcuts on it, close your eyes and hand over the money!

The 172 needs some special tools to set it correctly otherwise you might mess it up as other gaarges have done so in the past.

Got mine booked in for tomorrow at a Renault specialist

cam belt kit £123.60
alt belt £16.47
water pump £58.03
coolant £15.00
labour £259.60
vat 17.5% £83.00
total £556.00

Painful, but the peace of mind will be worth it.
