Top Engine Mount Drivers Side Oil Filled?

  Black 172 FF
Hi all,

During my recent cambelt change i notice this mount seems to have perished underneath and is leaking like a oil ? are they oil filled and will this effect its performance, the reason i ask is the mount still seems very solid and the cars done 26k miles bit low for an engine mount to die ?

Thanks Tom

You could be leaking oil from the cam cover/front of engine area which has contaminated the engine mount rubber, oil will eat into the rubber mount and soften it up and eventually fail.

mines certainly not? Are you sure yours is?

Last time I had a nasty oil leak around there it was the cam shaft oil seal.

  Lots of Alfas
No it must have been spilt or leaked from somewhere else. Maybe spilt from an oil change. Theres not much near the mount that would leak oil tbh. The rubber can perish but it doesnt look like oil. Can you take a pic?

It is defiantly... i have seen it with my own eyes.

A friends cars been to a local renault specialist and they have reported the same that his oil filled mount has burst...and needs replacing.

as i said renault also confirmed there oil filled.

^^ i stand corrected ! Last week i got myself new mounts all round and someone at the Renault told me about the oil-filles ones, thought they were of another model though.
