Small bump - advice needed

Hi Guys,

I had my car parked up at the weekend whilst I did some errands in town. As I got back a car parking up next to me caught my rear bumper and has caused a bit of damage. The guy was obviously at fault and he admitted to it, i got his details etc.

Now I have a friend of a friend who runs a body shop and has said he could sort it for £80, I've spoken to the guy who damaged my car and he wants me to get it sorted and then send him the bill rather than cough up the £80 first.

I've got the guys address, he, unfortunately, doesn't live locally which is my concern about fronting the £80 to repair my car.

If I was to go through the insurance, even though it wasn't my fault, my premium would likely increase upon renewal, wouldn't it?

Thanks
Simon

Any claim would put your insurance up.

I’d get the friend of a friend to produce an invoice and get the guy to pay it before you get it done.

f**k chasing someone in civil court for an £80 debt.

If he doesn’t want to do that say you would feel more comfortable going through insurance - he’ll soon change his mind.

  dan's cast offs.
If he's not going to stump up £80 beforehand then I can see this being a nightmare for you.

Tel him if he doesn't want to do that then you are going through his insurance. Your premium shouldn't increase because you've had a bump BUT if you go through his insurance ask yours if your premium will go up and by roughly how much? Then you stick 5 times that amount on the claim, perfectly legit to do so.

Only reason for him not to pay the £80 up front is he worried you'll take it and then claim on his insurance. You may never even think of doing such a thing but there are some right c***s about there.
