In-line Fuel Filter

  Clio 172 Cup
Hi,
Has anybody ever fitted an in-line fuel filter to there car?

This kind of thing:

My ph2 172 Cup doesn't have an external fuel filter. I know some early ph2 172 do have a filter, but I have looked everywhere under mine and all i have is fuel lines going from the tank to the injector rail.
From what i can find on the forums the 172 cup/182 only has a foam filter attached to the in-tank fuel pump.

I would like to fit a separate fuel filter, like the one pictured above, to give the injectors a bit of added protection.

Does anyone have experience of doing this? What is the ID of the hard plastic fuel lines, and is it possible just to cut them and then splice one of these filters in?

The one pictured is designed for a carb and wont be suitable at all.
I've never seen a fuel filter on a uk 172 but adding one shouldn't be too hard, take the fittings and filter hanger off something in a scrap yard and make it fit

to give the injectors a bit of added protection.
The injectors have a built in gauze filter and usually fail from a electrical problem rather than a mechanical problem caused by dirt.
Also the tank and filler neck being plastic means there is no problem with rust particles.
