What’s this?

On a 172 Cup, does anyone know what this set of wires are for. From this bundle the wires seem to go up and behind the glove box and then appear to head for the centre of the dashboard.

Those look like interior alarm sensors

Small round things look like ultrasonic alarm sensors.

I was thinking that. Do you think they are part of the original set up? If I remember correctly my 182 Cup had something similar on the A-pillars.

Pretty sure it doesn’t without me going down and looking. This car has a strange history. It was owned by a place that repaired Ferraris and I’m sure that they wanted to track it or actually did. I have always had the feeling that it was stripped down at some point but I’ve no history to prove that.

Both mine had them. Was part of the standard thatcham alarm system.

I just looked at a minter that sold on Collecting Cars and I couldn’t see them fitted.

True. The alarm does work so I’ll leave this for now. At least I know what they are now.

They can be "too sensitive" causing the alarm to go off all the time. Maybe the previous owner had enough of them.
