Hello from Cyprus | Renault 5 Turbo 2 'Tribute Build' with Clio underpinnings..

Dear Fellow Renault Enthousiasts,

Cyprus based Dutchie here; have been moving around the globe for work and have found myself and family in Cyprus for the last 4 years and for the foreseeable future!

Re subject: I started a tribute project 5 years ago (while living in Holland) with a running and MOT'd 1984 Renault 5 TL. The aim has been to 'upgrade' it into a modern hot-hatch-style (FWD) Renault 5 Turbo 2: not a conversion to be close to an original mid-engined R5Turbo 2 but a modern version of it with a pokey K4M icw more modern underpinnings, AC etc.

An '02 Clio II 1.6 16V donor car was purchased along with a Fibreglass kit and the works started in Holland back during Covid:

Once shipped together with our personal effects to Cyprus in a 40ft container, work continued slowly in Cyprus:

I've installed a set of motorbike Radiators in the rear cowels with plumbing to the front. Also a booster pump in the link-pipe between the radiators was installed to aide flow. Exhaust system, underbody bracing, all welding and reinforcing works was done as well. The Clio rear-axle was also used completely so mounting points and uprights for the shockabsorbers and springs had to be fabricated

PROBLEM CODE DF254: Now to the nagging part (and where hopefully the forum is able to assist me): I have reinstalled the complete Clio MK2 wiring loom which was held in a box for 4+ years. I ended up repairing lots of brittle wiring, particularly from the area where the loom goes past/over the engine block towards the ECU. All wiring has been triple checked from cracks, resoldered, repaired where needed and retaped-up. What started with a very large number of faults (thru the OBD) now has gone down to 3 faults with DF254 being the ever present and where I need help with.

I will make a seperate more in depth tread in the appropriate section of the forum. I'm happy to be here!

cheers, Simon

How's the big white plug?
Since I checked all wires 3 or more times and I have enough room/length I discarded the plug and soldered each individual wire together. I measured the wires from the pedal to the connecter (all good thru to the ECU) and did the same for the wires from the Throthle body to the ECU (all good too). I ordered a new throtthle Body and pedal/potentiometer assembly but no luck with that..
