Does anyone ever think...

Never think that, though I do earn my living from cleaning and detailing cars, I still enjoy cleaning my own and the van.

Out of interest have any of you wondered what most dealers who buy cars look in the little black book? its a guide on prices, a good condition car commands a much better price than a poor condition one, sometimes in the region of 25% more.

Dealers will class a poorly maintained car as one which looks well used, plus it could have damage, a well looked after and polished car as long as it doesn't have damage will get classed as good condition, thus making you more money, so cleaning cars isn't a waste of time :)

I agree . A car thats been well looked after will command a higher price when it comes to selling . Chances are that somebody who has taken the time , effort and money to maintain the car visually will also have looked after it mechanically regardless of cost imo .

At the end of the day though its horses for courses . Some people just want to drive em hard , some people just want them to look good and others do both .

The problems with CSs is that no matter how good they look, they are built to have fun in! I must admit though cruising through town on a sunny day with a fresh layer of wax on does make the experience a lot more pleasureable than when its covered with dead flies and mud. I should really get some photos up of my car, its looking pretty "trip" these days ;)

I like my car to be clean, usually try to wash it once a week, but give it a proper wax/seal/polish every few months. I hate having rubbish in my car though.

It's the most expensive thing I own, I want to look after it.

Sometimes I find it hard work, but when you see it after - it's a great feeling.

I agree too, I work for a dealers, and I see the difference it makes having a well looked after car, we can have to identical models come in, but one of them could be poorly looked after, and it makes such a difference between the prices.

I do love how my car looks when it's all clean and shiny..I just can't be arsed to do it very often! I think I last washed it about 3 weeks ago, but it still doesn't look that dirty and the rain's still beading on it (and that's just Turtle Wax!).

Anyway Rich is going to PC it for me because he's special :)
