warning lights.

hi all. got a problem with me cup, got a light keep comin on on my dashboard. its a square box with a squigglie line through it and teh car wil not rev above 3000 rpm.
gonna take it to renault and see what they say but jus t wondered if any of you had had the same problem, thanx 4 any help.

that wld be engine management light and its gone into limp home mode!

sounds like its in limp mode due to a problem , got a pic of the dash thing .

i had the same problem after coming out of a car wash.. it limped about 5 miles then i stoppped at me mates house left it an hour n the light went off.. think there was just some water in a sensor somewhere..

An uprated what?

It often happens if water gets in places it shouldn't be.

Or they can put silicon in the connections (to repel the water) and this can sometimes do ti!

by tomoro morning the light will probly have gone off anyhow..
i wouldnt go to renault theyll charge you to put it on the diagnostics just to tell u a load of expensive bollox.. havent you got some sort of specialist motorsport/renault tuning garage close to you? it always pays to make your self know around the experts

took the cup out last night 4 a boast 2 c if the light came on, it was fine 4 about 30 mins then when i was on the m1 doing about 80mph the light came on again. crap!

the nearest renault speciallest? is either hill power (who r always 2 busy when i ring up) or bb tuning but their quite afew miles away!!
fink i`m gonna take it renault and see what they say,may as well spend £80 at renault for them 2 tel me whats wrong instead of £400 on a group n ecu.then if renault say it is the ecu i`ll either get the group n or book it in to bb for the full n/a engine work which include`s cam`s, pistions, head work, ecu and manifolds porting!! :rasp: about 230 bhp with the mods i`ve already done.

what do you lot reckon?

Ite ppl,

I have just been out in 172 and the same warning light with the squiggly line through it came on when i went thru a puddle, when i turn off the engine and started it again it went off but then the pic of the ecu light has come on orange on the right side of my speedo!

Could leave it till tomorrow and see if it goes off! Fingers crossed!

Might just ask me m8 to stick it on his lab-top and tell me whats wrong with it instead of spending £85 at Renault!

Try a new coil pack on it before you try anything else.

hi mate, took me car 2 renault, they put it on the diagnostics machine and they said it was just "ghost`s in the ecu" whatever that mean`s :S!!! they reset the ecu and so far no more problems .

The replacmetn ECU is just an ECU with new maps for more fueling and advance etc its not uprated.

Samefor all the remaps there just different maps for the cars ECU they won't fix an engine problem.

yeah they will, saving for trottle boddies from gdi at mo and they use omex ecu`s which is a whole new ecu replacement plus wiring loom so that wud stop the problem, even thou the fault asn`t come back since i took it to renault.

i believe there is a way of doing it yourself by disconnecting the battery , please ask edde , he would know for sure

about £80ish mate. mine don`t do it anymore cause of omex now
