3rd Gear CRUNCH!!!!!!!

My 172 has started to crunch when changing into 3rd gear can I get the box fixed or do I need a new one and most important HOW MUCH!!

First things first check it has enough of the correct grade of oil in it.

I had slight grinding in 3rd after putting the wrong grade oil in my gearbox. But if its got the right oil and is fully topped up its probably the syncro as they always seem to go on 3rd first. Your looking a gearbox rebuild of fitting a reconditioned box.

Start double de cluching when going into 3 and that should stop it until you get it sorted

Get some castrol 75-80w from opieoils in there its the shiznit, definately worth trying first before you fork out on an expensive gbox
