Before you installed your maxogens, did you remove the CAF and acoustic valve from the standard IK?

Yep. Ran a feed from behind the bumper to the face of the maxogen...Does not need to be connected.

Cheers for the replies - I always (wrongly) assumed you left all in place bar the original airbox and elbow, I was obviously wrong, is it a bitch of a job to remove the acoustic valve and caf? Bearing in mind I have the mechanical knowledge of a retarded hamster:dapprove:

2 bolts to remove front of the arch liner. A 13mm spanner i think for the Acoustic brakcet. Cable to remove done! Can be done in under 20mins!

Out of interest, why the need to remove the CAF?

You dont need to at all, infact unless you are using the standard CAF to feed your maxogen, the only reason you would remove it would be to unclutter the engine bay and save some weight!

Right, so I can just remove the acoustic valve, leaving the standard CAF in until I get the time to feed it a better CAF?

yeah you could, but the standard cool air feed (well one of them anyway) is secured by the acoustic valve, so I'd leave it in for the time being.

Removed the feed but left the acoustic valve in as I wasn't 100% comfortable with leaving that plug disconnected. And it doesn't require all the hassle of taking the arch liner out etc to remove the valve.

Short answer is no because i'm lazy.

When i removed my acoustic valve, I left the solenoid that the plug plugs into there because like bmh said I didnt want the plugs contacts exposed to the elements etc. You can just use one of the original bolt holes to secure it.

Nice one - it looks like I may aswell get it all sorted in one go, anywhere I can get ducting off the shelf? Never really looked into it before tbh so please excuse the n00b question

Try searching on ebay or google for neoprene ducting. It's available in lots of sizes but I'll be honest I dont think it's money well spent! You wont feel the difference at all, normally what happens is the ducting gets wet and the wire on the inside of the ducting goes rusty and just makes a mess to be honest!

Cant get much better than £9.99 Homebase ducting - had mine roughly 4 years now and is still as good as the day it was fitted and the car dosent have any wheel arch liners for protecting so its open to stone chips and outright abuse. Best stuff to use imo

I can hear mine over my exhaust which is a rather loud piper catback and k-tec decat combo lol.
