Help to identify this sensor (in front of the alternator belt)

Can anyone help me identify this sensor that sits in front of the alternator belt? Mine is leaking for the second time......was fixed by Renault a few years back.

Any help much appreciated.

And yes, I know you can see right through to the floor in the picture - I hit a fat cat. Made a right mess.

thanks for that. What does PAS stand for and what does it do ?

is it to do with starting the car and giving it more revs?

Aye mate, losing your PAS whilst driving would be a bad sign.

yeah it is, its getting replaced at the weekend - thats when I saw the leak. Well spotted !
