2nd Gear crunching badly!

I'm driving home from work and out of the blue second gear starts crunching
like i've not pressed the clutch enough, except it's flat to the floor.

All the other gears are fine but second now crunches every time sending a judder
through the car, obviously I stopped using second after a few changes.

What the hell do I do now?

Well, it's either clutch or box related.

If it's only second that's crunching I'd say Mr syncho's seen better days.

Box replacement/rebuild time, ime.

Mines started doing this but in 5th. Turned out to be no oil in the box and it had caused wear on the synchros ended up needing a new gearbox. Not trying to put the s***s up you mate that was just my experience lol.

You can get a gearbox for a reasonable price mate.

Syncro wear is normally gradual though.. Get it checked before you go hunting for boxes

Yeah this wasn't gradual, one minute it's going into second no problem, the next it's crunching.

Knowing my luck i'll need a new box, clutch, dogbone and upper mount, then pay someone for hours of labour!

Hopefully a Kidney goes for the price of a gearbox, clutch, mounts & Labour,
although I suspect Kids n Eyes go for alot more.
