Budget of approx £18k, Considering anything from a little 2 person sporty type convertible thing!! or Golf Diesel Sport or just a quick ish diesel car, e.g. Megane.

Not sure what Im after hence why im looking for your ideas. Nothing with silly group insurance, ideally group 17 and under,

Would be an Audi S3. If you want something a little unusual, howbout a Seat Leon Cupra???? For me though the S3 has class about, and with the quattro would be some serious fun, looking to test drive one this week, though will be a while before I get one.

Hey I like you people!!! Leon cupra looks awesome, first one I ever saw was yellow 4am on the M25 came caning up behind me and it just looked rude!!!

Any other suggestions? Whens the leon due for replacement???

You sure you dont mean the AUdi RS6 which races around the tracks. At least that is what races around with the Suoerbikes!! There was one of those in the estate form at my neighbours this afternoon and it sounded superb. Looked like it had 19" wheels and twin exhausts making a nice noise when he pulled away. I was cleaning my shiny little 172 and the guy gave me a sideways glance and a bit of a grin - or was it a smirk?!!

yeh i agree very true!!

I have to agree with the Leon R excellent car and Revo chipping take them to 270hp alone.

How about a 3 liter Clio there is one 02 reg one on autotrader. (group 17)

Porche there loads

Toyota Celica 190 (the engine is going in the lotus elise) (group 16)

X type Jag (14-17 group insurance)

Honda Integra (no idea what insurance)

Jag S type (group 15)

Astra GSi turbo

TT (that is one people will moan at but the look excllent IMO and chip the to 270hp to help them with there weight problem and they should fly)

MX-5 (upto group 18 i think for top machine will all options)

IS200 (group 13)

Please dont get a BMW I hate them all, there drivers cars sure, but all the drivers of them that I have met are t**ts.

You should be able to get an old cupra R for about 15~16k and the new and old ones share the same engine the mapping is the only difference so a remap from Revo would give the same power advantage. Alo there isnt to many changes so your not loosing out massivly.

The RS3 is due out I belive that will be stunningly fast its getting a 3.2 with twin turbos tunned to 350hp I belive with AWD and a reasonably light body it will fly. Plus as its turboed you can always get a remap to turn the boost up for very little (well in comparison to a N/A car)

Also all you need for 414hp from an S4 is a remap exhaust and airfilter change.

How about a 3 liter Clio there is one 02 reg one on autotrader. (group 17) hmmm will want to move away from a clio,

Porche there loads prob a little out of my league insurance wise!!

Toyota Celica 190 (the engine is going in the lotus elise) (group 16) hmmmm hadnt thought about that one!!!

X type Jag (14-17 group insurance) eesk old man car!! (Sorry!)

Honda Integra (no idea what insurance) mmmmm but not new enough will want a newish car

Jag S type (group 15)

Astra GSi turbo god a vauxhall whatever next!!! hehe

TT (that is one people will moan at but the look excllent IMO and chip the to 270hp to help them with there weight problem and they should fly) been thinking about this very very tempting!

MX-5 (upto group 18 i think for top machine will all options) not unless I cross to the other side of the fence!!

IS200 (group 13) I LIKE!!!

Please dont get a BMW I hate them all, there drivers cars sure, but all the drivers of them that I have met are t**ts. was tempted for a while for a 320ci but I couldnt afford the options i would want will wait a few years for the BMW!!

Cheers mate appreciate the ideas, the leon cupra r taking it at the moment!! Will have a look what insurance group it is,

I dont even know whether im changing the clio anytime soon, I would like to but hmmmm....

Its a fun topic never the less, and even more fun ordering the brochures!!!

Lotus Elise 111S Grp 17 insurance, get one for 15k

fast as hell, especially if you know how to drive. Just hope youre not over 6 tall though. lol

My mate has the Leon Cupra, 1.8 turbo. Lovely car and a dream to drive and when that turbo comes in it makes you smile. He did say that hed like the R now tho, you do get used to the power.

Stretch to 20k and get a second hand Honda NSX. Ayrton Senna drove one as his car of choice. What else do i need to say? Described as the supercar you can go shopping in. Stunning looks, very rare, very fast.

An NSX will be nearly impossible to insure I would imagine its an incredable car and must be in the top 2 cars I want to own.

If you want to see how good it is check out http://www.getawayinstockholm.comwww.getawayinstockholm.com or search on kaza for the movie number 3. They take the NSX to the entreme illegally through Stockholm with the police in persuit. The car has been used by a few supercar makers to understand a how a supercar should drive and handle like eg the designer of the F1 had one.

2.7 Boxters are group 17 insurance but all boxters are driven by people with a mid life crises I think.

Mg ZS180?

Blimey! From 1.2 Clio to an £18,000 car is a big move!

Id say get a Cup for as near to £10k as you can bear and save the rest. Youll only endure addtionally savage depreciation as you pay more.

LOL, if your talking about performance forget about Seats and Audi S3s. Jap cars with turbos will sh*t all over these cars in looks, power, performance and prestige. I agree with the guy who said a Supra twin turbo. Now thats a fast car.

mmmm Supra yum! However having had the clio from new I like the whole new car feel and I want to go through the haggling bit after being a salesmans dream when I bought mine not knowing a feckin thing about car buying!!! Still not an ok deal but next time!! mwah hahaha I will get more!

Just want a little performance! At the end of the day going from my 1.2 anything will give me a smile! £18k being my max, Just want to give myself scope to get a cra I wont bore of too quick! Leon Cupra R looking mighty fine, especially with a Revo technik software change, another 30odd bhp!!! me likes the sound!! Definitely wouldnt get a cup, i like my creature comforts and to be honest i cant see myself buying another clio!

Thanks for all these ideas keep them coming

Anyone got any pics of the forthcoming ibiza cupra???
