As title says im going to look at one in a few days as its based in Manchester and my friend lives in Newcastle, not really too clued up on the 197's with me having a 172 cup, just wondering what are the main things to look out for?
this ones on a 57 with 35k
Cheers
EDIT : Forgot to...
get into the BIOS/CMOS by either pressing F1 F2 etc at the boot up screen, scroll along to boot and check what order it is, if youve got nothing plugged into your comp and no disc in the drive then put your hard drive to boot first and see if that fixes it
how many hard drives are you running?
something is causing your CPU to constantly access the HD
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/
Download that and test your RAM sticks to make sure whatever is causing that isnt causing trouble in the RAM
Definitely no spy/malware or viruses?
well at least you know its gonna be software based now, if it was wireless it could have been the intellipoint software but yours is wired :(
does your HDD Led come on when the timer is on?
click start, right click my computer and "manage"
click device manager then expand the "mouse" tab, if theres no !'s or X's or little notes then you at least know its not a hardware issue causing it (very doubtful it is but it rules something out at least)
EDIT : is it wirless or wired?
Doesnt seem to exist in my MMC
Its still there when you type it into run, but i physically can't find it anywhere, Performance monitor is still there though.
Any ideas where to locate it? Its annoying me that its in the action centre somewhere but I cant actually find it :o
Cheers
Yeah i know what you mean the Meyers one is 1300 pages for the A+ and 900 for the N+ Sybex is a little less, I think I'll try and find a shop that sells them so I can get them a bit sooner
I've been fiddling about self learning computers for about 8 years now, forgot some stuff I havent used...
Cheers mate, i've been doing a couple of practice A+ exams and its nothing difficult at all, the N+ is where I need to brush up a little bit though
Still got your books? ;)
Over the next few months i'll be embarking on the DIY A+ and N+ route (thanks to Terry for a point in the right direction) my question is which would be the better out of the following two books?
Option 1 - Mike Meyers
