I would imagine not a common problem as mine was self inflicted by accidentally bending the skuttle drain hose back on itself so the skuttle wouldn't drain.

No the easiest option is the swap the abs pump complete for a known good one. Does the abs still work? Lack of comms would suggest not.

The 774 engine pump (megane 225/230) has a higher relief pressure. Min 3.7bar at 4krpm and max 5.5bar.

Operate the pump with clip whilst performing a normal bleeding operation. That's about it.
