I was just about to post a link to it on the 'ebay' section to get opinions.
I cannot access ebay at work but I 'won' it last night for £3400 but did not hit reserve - was wondering about talking to the guy. I reckon reserve will be around £4k.
So £5k all in with new gearbox, clutch...
I think I need to dismiss this option - much as though I'd love to learn I just do not have the time.
Whether I buy this car or not from what I am reading I should understand the cost of this - seems to be pretty common.
Yep, Agency quoted £350 but cannot take the box out/in and didnt have any recommendations.
You removed/refitted it yourself?
Is this something a non-specialist would be fine with?
Renparts do it for £600 inc fitting but I think my wife would divorce me if I suggested driving up there!

My thoughts were , if the price is right, buy this, get gearbox done and know its good. rather than buy a car and have the box go a couple of months later.
I'm trying to figure out that the 'correct' price to pay for the car to take account of the gearbox repair.
So potentially looking at a Clio 200 with a dodgy 3rd gear.
I've had drive in / out repair quotes of £1100 - £1200 from the 'big names' on here.
Is there a cheaper way?
I'm only an hour from Agency transmissions but do not have the time / expertise to remove the gearbox myself and struggling for...
Can anyone clarify:
1-what model RS Tuner this is? There is no writing on it anywhere!
2-do I have everything I need?
3-What Renaults can it remap?
4-Does it just need a €95 (£78) single reprog licience to be used? I thought it was cheaper than that?
I have had a look on the fastchip...
Yep, talking this one....

The missis puts 15k a year on it and I cycle to work - technically it is her car but like to ensure she does not get something dull as dishwater as I do all the non-commute...
Anyone got genuine experience of a Yozzasport standard replacement exhaust vs OEM exhaust?
Do you find that it really is as quiet?
Having trouble convincing the o/h that I can ever make the 172 quiet on the m’way.
Not keen on blowing £350 before I can confirm it’s quiet enough for the...
The Tuscan is my toy the 172 is my daily 'hack' and thus would appreciate some peace and quiet first thing in the morning. I also have the g/f to convince that the clio can be my 'sensible' car!
Interesting that the standard exhaust is quiet - may need to book a test drive somewhere to check...
I love my 172, great fun, practical, great mpg…..
…..but…..
I’m struggling with it on the m’way – the exhaust drones.
It used to have a noisy exhaust but I have just changed the backbox for a 2.25 inch stealth ss backbox….but it still drones.
I have only driven modified 172’s – are...
Just done some more swatting on the correct names for things (see edits above) – having had a mechanic look at this he reckons the leak is either from the base of the air inlet manifold or the rocker cover.
He reckons it would be very difficult to change the cambelt without removing the aux...
