I'd upgrade everything, I had an idea of buying one in parts when prices went mental, chassis, rear beam, engine, box etc and building one over a few years, but even the parts are silly money now.
I thought VW scene tax was bad, it's got nothing on Ford tax.

It's all sorted now, he hated getting a claims company onto them as he said they were sound as f*ck with him and really apologetic, it's just his insurer refused to do their job leaving him little choice.
Forgot to update this, his insurer essentially told him to pay for the damage himself through his excess and chase the other insurer for the rest, so he got an independent claims company involved who took his car for repair, gave him a courtesy car and sorted the whole mess out for him, he now...
My mates brother restored a MK1 16v Clio about 3 years ago, he had no problem finding parts as most stuff is old enough to made by classic and heritage parts suppliers these days.
Mk2's on the other hand are still in the no mans land of too old for Renault or anyone else to bother making parts...
Gates open at 8am, you'll need tickets in advance as you can't pay on arrival, the whole place is rented exclusively by the club, so no need to park near the club tent, the whole place is CS for the day and the car park is massive.
