Driving an uninsured car on your insurance?

To the best of my knowledge, even if your fully comp insurance gives you 3rd party cover on other cars, the other car has to be insured properly by someone else. I believe the idea is to stop you buying a Clio and a Ferrari, insuring the Clio fully comp, and driving the Ferrari 3rd party and not...

    PLEASE, brake help!!!

When I changed my pads, I put the pad nearest the engine in place first, then put the caliper in place and braced it against the new pad, then pulled like a b**ch until it had receeded enough to fit the other pad in.

Funniest Thing You Have Been Told By A Dealer...

My mum went looking at a new Yaris a couple of years ago, and my bro was with her, so he asked the salesman, bro "What's the 0-60" salesman "Well, depends how hard you accelerate, normally about 10s, but if you really give it some, probably about 7s" bro *stunned silence*

The 'What MPG Do You Get?' Thread

Averaging 55mpg out of my DCi80, my record is over 90mpg on a run once.

    Headlamp bulbs

I've seen these bulbs https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/product.php?productid=16358&cat=607&page=1 and I'm wondering if they're worth getting, also there are 80W bulbs available. I've had one of mine go, so thought I'd upgrade them, but not sure whether to go for these or just get some Phillips...

    the best RPM for motorway

55-60mph is best for most cars MPG, too low and the engine is labouring, not working efficiently so you'll end up with rubbish MPG. If you're that concerned about MPG get a diesel, DCi's will do 50 when ragged round town, and up to 90 if you drive at 55-60 on the M-way.

STOP and handbrake light randomly illuminate?

I rag my car and didn't change my pads until 27k, and they still had a few miles left in them.

    Alpine CDE-9850Ri for Ipod connection

You just disconnect the old HU, and then plug in the new one, couldn't be easier, but you will lose your remote controls and display unless you pay out for a an extra lead, think they're about £30.

    Alpine CDE-9850Ri for Ipod connection

I bought one a couple of months and am really pleased with it. Only bad thing is that it can take a while to search for an artist, but that's the problem with having 1,000s of tracks at your disposal, and its as good as if not better at accessing the iPod than any other HU I've come across...

2006 Budget Ouch for RS owners!

£50 road tax on my DCi80! Back of the net! I really don't know why they don't put road tax on top of fuel duty, it would be so much fairer, pay for what you use, no admin costs for collecting it, and the more efficient your car is the less you pay.

    SatNav on PDA's

I have Tomtom working on an iPaq, works brilliantly, plus I have a bluetooth receiver with the Sirf III chipset, and it works flawlessly from under my driver's seat!
