I sold my MK2 172 last year but it had this problem. It was so bad once that it actually caused 2 cracks in the bottom of the plastic front bumper...

Could definately be something a mechanic has left. In my old car, they left a dry cloth in the engine compartment - couldve set fire to the whole car!!

When I was getting a set of plates done, I asked the guy to space them out how I wanted - but he refused as he stated that it was illegal. Apparently, he could get into trouble for doing them with incorrect spacing.

Im Chinese - not yet been to a meet but I hope to soon. In fact, I was one of the lucky ones to be allocated an initial ticket, but I had to decline because I was due to be moving house that weekend. Didnt end up moving and missed a good weekend @ Brands :(. Phil
